I use both. I usually go 2.0 when I'm more in discussion mode but when I'm more in media mode, checking out music and pics I'll activate likes.

How can you tell who liked?

neonspectraltoast 1) the name is shown in the notification. and 2) by clicking on the number of likes besides the 'like' button you see which fellow forummers liked your post

I have the 2.0 so i won't see them nor be notified. Haven't used that feature since i've been here so its useless to me.

Just curious. Why is it important for a person to be noticed for liking another's post? If you have the feature why not just use it regardless if it gets noticed by the other or not.

Its not important, just handy or good to know if they see it or not. People often 'like' posts for the other person to notice it. It's mind baffling I know :P
