Avoid any fast food with beef in it

Beef prices are really high now. I have a grocery warehouse I go to for cheap cuts I get for the dogs. I happen to think dogs need actual meat once in a while. So yesterday I bought a pack of "stew meat" for $6.50 that I normally wouldn't $2 for. Steaks are hovering around $15/lb for barely marbled lean cuts. Tough as fook unless you cook them like a pot roast, for hours.

So how is it McD's, BK and Wendy's are still selling hamburgers for the same prices? Krystal and Taco Bell I understand, they've been making magic with Grade M beef for decades. Taco Bell's "meat" is only 35% beef. Sonic and Dairy Queen burgers tasted like shit anyway, so they can serve grilled Kangaroo for all I care.

Years ago McDonald's was accused of supposedly using worm protein in burgers. It was a fabrication of course. But McDonald's reply was very odd. They basically said "beef is 75 cents a pound, worms are $6 per pound, so this makes no sense.

Well, beef isn't 75 cents anymore!

Beware my friends. Even if it's not worms, is it beef?

Exactly. This is why I will not be moving to Mars.

you should know macdionalds doesn't buy beef on the open market...they have exclusive deals with set prices and their own processing and packaging deals etc....that is how they maintain price...they run commercials showing their farms occasionally

I'd feel better if the Double Quarter Pounder was $7.99.

i don't know about mcdonalds, but the last two whoppers i've had tasted kind of weird. i wouldn't have identified the taste as fish bait on my own, but i could see that being the case.

I'd bet on "textured Vegetable Protein" long before worms. And I agree, BK is the closest to me, and I have to drive a ways, and it tastes weird where it wasn't weird before. Especially if it's not hot enough. For another few miles I can get a really good burger for too much money at a place called Taco Mac (seriously stupid name for a 50 tap beer joint). But I have not had one from them in a few weeks, so they could be cutting corners as well.

If a restaurant has not raised their prices on beef offerings, I have trust issues. Which is really too bad. I used to like the taste of fast food burgers. Oddly, the McD's double cheeseburger (not on the menu) is quite good, a perfect ratio. BK makes one as well, but it's too similar to the whopper in taste. But again, this is old information. I know the butcher at the grocery warehouse. His beef section is 1/8th what it was. But the pork and chicken sections are massive.

There's a little mom & pa joint called The Dinner Bell that makes awesome burgers. Real ground beef, juicy when you bite into it with a perfect smoky flavor. I hope they can survive this corona thing.

The only ones we have around here only have BBQ and "comfort" food (I hate that fucking term). A really good burger joint has been really elusive. co vid has not helped, but I'm still confused about the beef tie in. My weed dealer is trying to get me to go in on a half cow. But I have been burned on those kinds of deals before. They show you a prime carcass and you end up with prepackaged utility beef (a real grade).

There is a new food truck in my town that sells a smoked brisket sandwich for $8 and I am going there now to get one...... I bought some London broil yesterday and it was a very good price so hopefully Canada is doing a little bit better than the United States as far as beef is concerned because we don't exchange beef like we used to over the border and such

Yea, I love when Whole Paycheck has brisket on the hot bar. There's a place in Marietta called the Crooked Tree Cafe that offers a Brisket Biscuit!

One co-worker used to see me eating one, and he always called it a "heart attack in a box". "Plug up those arteries".
