  • Gluten intolerance

I think I’m becoming more and more gluten intolerant with time. For many years I found gluten-free alternatives to taste stale, bland, and strange compared to their traditional counterparts. But lately I’ve noticed that I become sluggish and get a food hangover after eating lots of glutinous foods; especially pastas. Yet I don’t get the food hangovers after the gluten-free foods.

It kinda sucks because I love glutinous breads and doughs. I can take glutinous foods in small doses but a bowl of pasta will incapacitate me.

Also it doesn’t make any sense either. Humans have been consuming wheat since the beginning of our species for survival.

maybe non-gluten people are the next stage in evolution.

Seeing how I’ve recently been binging on x-men cartoons from the 90s, I totally dig the idea of being the next stage in evolution

Coeliac is one of the conditions that the book 10% Human claims has risen due to a loss of microbiome diversity.

I would bet that it's something to do with bacteria in your gut.

I'm not sure feeling sluggish or having a food hangover after a glutinous meal like a pasta is what constitutes as a gluten intolerance? Seems a normal consequence of (over)indulging in glutinous food.

What I found interesting about lactose intolerance in adult humans is that it seems the normal and standard circumstances for an adult human. It's a deviation that other adult humans developed a tolerance for it, that got genetically spread. Now many adult people can enjoy dairy without any unfortunate consequences :-) Those who can't did apparently not develop an intolerance for it, this was the original state..

Gluten-free pasta doesn't have the same affect on me. That's how I got to this conclusion.

No, but 6-eyed the consequences attributed to having gluten intolerance are different than just getting sluggish/food hangover. Perhaps look them up.
A lion getting sluggish/a food hangover after devouring an antilope does not have an antelope intolerance either

so it turns out the actual next stage of evolution is being able to eat cheese.

I've gone for gluten tests, coeliac disease, chrons disorder Etc and it all came back negative but the doctors did say that didn't necessarily mean my body enjoyed digesting gluten and dairy.

I suffer from bad digestive problems, I could attribute a lot to the inflammation disease in my back that creeps into my stomach but I know a lot of trigger foods get to me too.

I'll be honest, I haven't passed much solid for a good 10 years. It's a surprise if I ever do. So that gives me the uncomfortable bloat feeling 24/7 in general.

Diagnosed with IBS because of it. The best I can do is try not go to the toilet for a day or so I don't have to go to the toilet 5x a day, which seems the way to go, but at the same time that's the problem with me is that I could go to the toilet 5x a day if I wanted to. ??

Diet does drastically make things better.

End of day though that's just how it is for me because of my back problems. The pills definitely don't help either.

It's okay to go on a inflammation diet and eat better but when my back says fuck you no diet is going to fix that, it's going to turn my tummy into a crock pot and it's going to break everything down into liquid, sometimes stupidly quickly too.

I've tried different types of yoghurt. Not sure it's helped anything.

From the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine and dietary therapy, you likely have weak digestion and dampness, at least partially caused by your diet and lifestyle. I can tell you what the tcm perspective is on treating this, if you're interested.

While wheat may have been a staple of the European diet for a long time, there may be many differences between contemporary diet and lifestyle and that of one's ancestors.

                      Hey Irms

I've had alot of IBS stuff too. All of which are gone now because of yogurt.

I'm also lactose intolerant, but something about the fermentation process of milk to make yogurt somehow nullifies my intolerance to milk made products.

I cordially invite you to try having a LARGE daily dose of yogurt to curb IBS.

Eating a total of 4 to 6 of these Activa yogurts per day/ throughout the day for a week, completely changed my bathroom experience with IBS.

                      (Too much T.M.I.)
Going number 2, has gone from gassy blow up water bombs that look like dog kibble......to completely solid, quick and a remarkably pleasant experience of being entirely "emptied " out feeling. With an added bonus of "no" toilet paper really needed to wipe.
I know....crazy right. I never could imagine that my movements would be so clean coming out that wiping would be almost nonexistent. 🤯

My theory comes from the amount of the the good bacteria in yogurt. I think we both are people that need a way higher than average dose of good bacteria for our guts to supply healthy looking #2's

I eat 4 to 6 of these small servings throughout the day, every day for months now. My toilet paper costs have been cut in half , but my yogurt grocery bill has obviously gone up.

These are my daily yogurt go-to's

Going to the bathroom now with complete and confident bliss was so worth the expense of buying more yogurt. I hope you give it a try Irms.
