    Growing things from cuttings

I'm new to this. I find it quite exciting :-)
This has been in a pot for a month or two, not looking quite alive but not looking dead either... Then today I noticed this new growth!

This is probably a dumb question, I am really quite clueless about plants ? but do you just stick the clipping in some dirt or is there a certain technique one must do to get it to root?

i vaguely remember my mom putting clippings into a cup of water until roots started to grow on the bottom, and then transferring it into dirt. but i don't know if that's the only way to do it, or even the best.

There are products that help with root growth on cuttings..

Some plants will take with water. But ya must keep the water oxygenated < changed daily, moving with bubbles, ect ..

Yeah there are lots of things like the above posts describe, but I just stuck that in a pot of dirt and kept it damp :-)

My brother took a piece of a different plant from here and did the same, with success. So yeah, I don't over complicate haha. Rooting hormones and stuff.. probably necessary for some plants? But I'm happy to just see if they take in a pot of dirt and if they don't, oh well.

usually if the stem is hard wood. Its can benefit from hormones .. but not totally necessary .. Say for instance Hedges .. Will root hardwood as long as the water is changed often.. Damp soil sometimes works, but it slower..

Bending a branch and burying it, leaving the top come out the ground will also make roots on stem.. < Some branchy Sativa's will take this way. As is a popular cloning method in Jamaica..
