    Garden 2021

What is everyone going to be growing this year? Trying anything new?

    #2
We are going to plan ours this week.

So far, I think we are going to grow:
    VEGETABLES HERBS FLOWERS GREENS
garlic (planted in the fall) garlic chives sunflowers spinach
tomatoes (roma +cherry) oregano marigolds lettuce
    bell peppers thyme kale
    snap peas rosemary
    beans sage
    carrots basil
    beets
Also probably 2 or 3 auto-flowering cannabis plants in the ground and 1 or 2 in pots on the deck.

I aim to put out some tomatoes...eventually. Like, before I die. Jet Stars are my favorite. Back when I had my dad to help me I'd put out a medium sized garden but I work so much during the week that upkeep becomes difficult, and I hate a weedy garden.

Yeah I get that - it can definitely become a chore to keep up with it if you don't have the time. I'm working from home this year (and last year I was home with my kids), so it makes it easier to just go out and weed for 5 or 10 minutes here and there.

I was given two little sprout plants late last year and they didn't do much.. also planted in an area i've decided is bad for everything. Nothing seems to grow well there. But I want to do sprouts properly myself. Also a kale that isn't curly.. because I find I often can't be bothered to pick the kale I grew last year (still growing now) because it takes so long to wash it and get bugs out of it. and i'm a bit fussy about trying not to eat bugs.. lol

I'm sick of growing bell peppers. they never seem to go red, and if they do, they start going mouldy at the same time. And I don't like them when they're green.

I never put any thought into this, but now it's March and it's time to act now!

I tried butternut squash last year but it took over the whole lawn and didn't look like it was going to finish by the end of the season so I just pulled it out. I'm not growing any this year, but I might try again next year by starting the seeds inside a couple of months ahead of time.

Last fall I planted about 300+ perennial lilies in my back yard. We'll see who survived the cold winter in a month or two.

i'm about to put some kale and sprout seeds in trays.

i had a discussion with the fisherman this morning and he is insisting they should go into seed beds, in the garden.
i would prefer to start them in trays, in the conservatory or polytunnel.

after reading many "how to's" on the internet, i am pretty confident that either way is fine. if anyone has any thoughts on this, i'm interested, but by the time i read them i probably will have already done the trays. but i still want opinions.

Too lazy to ever attempt gardening. Not enough hours in the day, with sports on, reading, playing switch, zooming with Zoe, or streaming crap on my 55" 4K HD TV.

I would attempt to grow some Chop Chop in my backyard, but our neighbours are Coptic Christians and thus would be narks..

However I am very interested in the efforts of other Horticulturalists here/green thumbs. Feel free to share photos of the fruits of your labour here.

I was just digging in the garden and I suddenly felt something touch the bottom of my foot, making me immediately pull my foot away and there was a massive worm just with its "head" out, seeming to look around for a second before disappearing back down the hole lol

I dreamed about a big worm last night.

I'm going to be growing more disciplined hopefully.

                          And sober.

Our garlic has started coming up. Now I have to figure out how to keep the puppy out of the gardens. He loves digging and has started trying to eat all of the perennials that have started coming up in the front garden.

I'm going to start some sunflower seeds this weekend.

how do you know it was the head? maybe it didn't want to fart in its home so it stuck its butt out.
