The Ice Age land bridge has never been proven

Lots of people have been taught that Natives arrived to the Americas during the Ice Age when they walked across a theoretical land bridge between Alaska and Chukotka that used to exist.

This hasn't been proven and there's no way to prove it. Who's to say that they didn't row their boats from somewhere else? Or maybe the Americas was were these people originated.

Here's an even wilder theory: They were on an island that collided into the Americas during the continental shifts of plate tectonics.

maybe they were beamed here from egypt through the hidden powers of the pyramids.

seriously, i do find it kind of annoying the way hypotheses are taught as fact. it's not so hard to say "they probably walked across a land bridge" rather than "they walked across a land bridge".

it's not too hard to see why they chose this version over the other two you listed though. boats might mean they're not dumb savages, and plate tectonics might mean god didn't create the earth exactly as it is today.

Thor worked this out on the Kon Tiki. It's more plausible people came to the Americas by crossing the Pacific. However, the teeth of the Clovis people are very similar to ancient Siberians. New Mexico probably represents the place where both kinds of people met (and likely fought). But there was a lot of partying there 12,000 years ago too. I've been there!

My thoughts exactly. The generally accepted theory IS the most likely, but that still doesn't make it certain and so it shouldn't be stated or taught as such.

We were taught it as a theory in school, not as a fact.

It does make sense though. I remember watching a documentary back when DNA tests first became a thing, where they took a random sample of people and traced their lineage as far back as 30,000 years. They tested a Puerto Rican woman whose ancestry could be traced back to Siberians living around the Arctic circle. The theory was that her ancestors walked over the land bridge, made their way down through North America and eventually ended up in Puerto Rico where they were when Europeans arrived with African slaves. Her ancestry was a mix of African, European, and indigenous Siberian

              Pretty interesting stuff

Land bridge was a hypothesis and was never a theory. Today the land bridge is debunked but some people Still believe it, not keeping up to date on science.
