    Fun

what shapes a person's idea of fun?
do you have an activity you find fun that typically other people don't?
can you choose to find something fun if it doesn't come naturally?

I find the company around you makes all the difference when it comes to having fun. Having another positive energy around you can make even the most mundane tasks fun sometimes.

I'm a person who greatly enjoys my own company but I dont really have fun by myself. When I do things alone I find it peaceful, introspective, therapeutic. But it takes the presence of another person for me to feel like something is fun

I've never really thought about it before, but I'm the same way. I can do things that bring my pleasure or satisfaction by myself, but I think that I depend on the company of others for actual fun.

Depends on your mindset. Simple things can be such joy for me at times. I've found enjoyment in walking around looking at Christmas decorations, walking in parks, or sunbathing. As well as martial arts training, exploring new places, and jumping off planes and bridges. I don't think its much of a choice on my part.

I feel like that about work. It depends on my co-workers whether the job will be fun, boring, or hell. Other than that i feel like i'm better off alone. Maybe a hiking buddy would be nice.

Enjoyment shapes a person's idea of fun.

I really enjoy going to live shows and sports, I also find video games fun. I know those are fun activities for many others as well but I've met some who do not find those activities fun

I can find fun in something that does not come naturally, however as other poster's have mentioned, this tends to happen when in the presence of others.

so what is the difference between "pleasure and satisfaction" and fun?
or "enjoyment" (as in you enjoy your own company) and fun?

Honestly, I can't really articulate it. I'll think on it and get back to you lol.

No, silly! It's doo as in hairdoo! (although, I guess some might spell it hairdo). It's actually funny though (or creepy?). I was thinking about the name earlier yesterday and worrying how it might have that connotation (another reason for me to want to change it), but it turns out doo is a way to spell hairdoo. So yeah, it was a fun hairdoo that I had at the time of registration (the dreadlocks), but that phase has kinda passed so I kinda want a change. I'm still Fun though! :P And I wanted to be sure you folks recognized me.

neonspectraltoast well, I think that's why I thought it sounded good.

Jessica actually, I was wondering about that. Yeah, you can try it to see if it works. I'd be fine with that.

still struggling to answer this honestly. I guess my gut reaction is it's fun when I can just be my silly goofy self and get a laugh vs being criticized or looked down at as immature. That's why I enjoy kids. They just have FUN! But y'all are fun here too!

hmm, and i learned a new thing about the forum. i've been looking at the "last post" list on each forum, and assuming it was just the thread posted in last and the thread creator, but it's actually the thread posted in last and the last poster. this actually makes more sense, i'm not sure why i assumed the opposite.
