Michio Kaku seems to be the leading alien anthusiest on Alien Month on the discovery channel.
When discussing that some scientists don't believe advanced life could harbour anywhere else in the universe he said "really? Come on, please." and rolled his eyes.👍 1 -
Is Michio sticking to facts as they are currently understood? If he's sold out to make a buck I'm going to be really depressed.Comment

tumbling.dice I had the same impression after his appearances on Ancient Aliens. It seems like he's gravitated more toward this stuff after gaining popularity and String Theory lost momentum.
He has talked about aliens in the past and expanded on the Kardaschev scale which categorizes hypothetical advanced civilizations, so I do think it is a genuine curiosity for him but his dedication to it makes me wonder.Comment

So if you dedicate yourself to a possibility that contradicts other made up theories and possibilities you lose credibility points because what you're trying to learn is just a bit "too far out there" in comparison to a previous theory that has yet to be proven anywhere near factual?
The world of science lol.Comment
-
What possibilities and theories are you talking about? Also, did Kaku mention any names of scientists who don't believe intelligent life could exist anywhere else in the galaxy?Comment
-
Every other possibility and theory that has thus far been not been proven aka theoretical and hypothetical science straight off the bat.
It'll always make laugh, a science that revolves around hypothetical and theoretical hypothesis and situations actually has the audacity to claim that no, what you believe isn't right.
Lulz.
Hypothetical and theoretical literally to the definition means "made up, not proven, don't know, maybe".
Thus science is a religion, an agenda that offers answers for the questions we don't know the answers for, whether they're true doesn't exactly matter.Last edited by Irminsul; 07-13-2020, 12:50 AM.Comment

kind of meant all science outside bat virus crap
There was Musk's rocket, which was actually pretty cool watching it, cameras were high def as fuck, not the patchy shitty resolutions of times of yorComment

i live in the US. we don't hear science outside of "covid's killing you and everyone you've ever met", "covid doesn't exist", or "this is the scientific reason you're a racist". your post was actually the first i ever even heard that musk was shooting off a rocket.Comment

They just use science when it's convenient, it's not their unwavering faith. They are all about it with Covid, yet they support, let's call it champion at this point, an organization/ideology whose leaders have been vocal about being anti-science.Comment

i do agree that it's more of a convenience than a faith, just like christianity is for the republicans. in that particular post i was actually making fun of the republican anti-science rhetoric more than the democrat use of science.Comment
