So, I occasionally bow before and kiss monuments to deceased soldiers , but usually they are like marble or something and it isn't 20 below zero. There happened to be a monument to deceased Laotians near the more than 1100 Minnesotan names carved into a plaque who died in Vietnam.
This monument however was made of metal. So, I bowed, said a prayer, kissed it and my lips got stuck to it. A little thin layer of my lips remained on the monument after we separated and I'm feeling raw.
Ah well, No skin off my sack! (my lips are a different story
)
No good deed goes unpunished! Penance, Penance, Penance! It's a virtue!
