  • Hey girl, what's your sign?

I don't know much about the astrological signs beyond my own and the ones I'm compatible with (scorpio, virgo, pisces), which is a damn shame because I'm into that bullshit (yes I know a lot of people think it's bullshit)

So, what's your sign? Do you identify with it? Do you even care?

  • #2
I am Sag all the way. My sun, moon, and Neptune are all conjunct in Sagittarius. I have Mercury in Sagittarius, too. I do identify.

Sagittarius is the most philosophical of the signs and that's definitely me.

Once you know how star signs are made up (of stars that have absolutely no connection to eachother, and they only look like this from a certain angle), how can it be taken seriously??

I'm sure I would identify just as much with another sign if that one would happen to match my birth date. So I care little. I KNOW it is bullshit.

It's an examination of personalities based on the position of the heavens. It doesn't matter if the stars aren't connected. It was developed over thousands of years.

Back when they could still get away with such theories. Fact of the matter is these allignments just appear as such from our perspective from earth. We now know earth is not the center of anything. So these allignments don't mean shit. We apply that meaning to it.

It doesn't matter. The alignments are unique throughout the signs whether earth centric or not, and that's what they're based on.

The ancients didn't just point to an area of the sky and arbitrarily assign personality traits.

You won't hear me say the ancients were lazier or more stupid than us. They just had less verifiable facts and so more use for stuff like astrology.
Realizing astrology is in essence bogus doesn't have to come from arrogance. It also doesn't negate that there's a more intense or intrinsic relationship between man and its environment (starsigns are just not the way to gain insight on it imho)

So, in your opinion, the more facts, the less spirituality. As though those two things just happen to be mutually exclusive.

The "facts" aren't even the facts. They're just viewed through the lens of materialism by scientists. Where everything is "just" something else. With no explanation of the true essence of anything.

Ancient man dug much deeper than modern man and modern science.

My favorite friend is a Pisces. We once read a friendship compatability horoscope about Scorpios and Pisces and I remember it said "Friends? More like soul mates!" and we both looked at each other and spoke with our eyes, because we do that, and we were both in agreement.

You know what's really fun? Mayan star glyphs. I believe there's a website that will tell you your Mayan sign. I am a red overtone Skywalker.

No. That wasn't my point. I see astrology more like pseudoscience, not spirituality. And even if I deem one form of spirituality as bogus, it doesn't mean I reject spirituality as a whole or have no use for it myself. So you're thinking too black and white here imo.

The more scientific methods get properly applied and cause of new factual insights to be gained though, the less people usually (but not neccessarily) go for spirituality. That's not my opinion, but also a fact. Its a generalisation though.

What Im saying is the more facts we have about stars and the universe, the more it becomes apparent that astrology is not really based on truth but on an arbirtrary invented theoretical system that connects personal traits to peoples moment of birth and how the stars were alligned at that time. What applies to the spiritual field of astrology though might not apply to other spiritual concepts and theories.

Astrology isn't arbitrary, as I've already explained. And whether one thinks the position of the heavens at their birth is a reflection of their psyche has nothing to do with whether we've discovered the sun is gas. Did you expect to go to Venus and find the words "human sexuality" painted across it in big black letters? Nothing we've learned has disproved astrology whatsoever. So scientists turn around and say it's all a psychiatric condition where people cherry pick the parts that seem to fit.

They'll stop at nothing to force the world to be a mundane, explicable place. That suits them, but it just isn't the world we live in. There is a deep relationship between the psyche and the cosmos. But of course anything outside of the scope of expertise of scientists, like the psyche, just don't count.

Few months ago i found a site that explained my sun and moon sign together. Then a brief description on my sun, moon, and ascendant together. I found that more accurate than just looking up only my sun sign. Also interesting to see what well known people have the same two or three main signs as you.

That's called a "natal chart", and mine seems much more accurate than just the sun sign.

A stable traveler from the land of the lucky ones. Actually quite fitting. Not sure if i consider myself stable. A messed up traveler from the land of the lucky ones might be more fitting. I wish more people would tell theirs instead of being such a chicken.

These info is known in my case, yay The thing is I'm not doubting i can identify with it. As I would with a lot of other signs I bet. I wouldn't mind it if astrology would be real, really! But I conclude so far its coincidental.

I'm great at reading birth charts. You're just such a typical gemini, though, Asmo. All you need to do is find a Leo and your life will be complete.

I bet I could pinpoint some eccentricities in your chart. I don't have a computer though.

We have learned that the signs in the nightsky made up by different stars are entirely coincidental. They only exist because we see it like that from Earth.

The only heavenly objects that have a direct impact on us mentally and physically are the moon and the sun. Allignments don't do shit.

Can't you grasp that that's irrelevant? It's a study of personalities based on positions of planets and stars as viewed from Earth. It isn't a complete study. But even if there were no stars in the sky it would have been based on quadrants of space. One could even reduce astrology to the position of Earth in space at birth. It doesn't entirely revolve, in a scientific manner, on the influence of particular stars on the psyche. In fact the stars on the opposite side of the globe could play the deciding factor. It's only saying this is how the sky was when you were born, which is always unique at different times.
