*disclaimer, wrote this in a bit of a feverish haze in the middle of the night ?
I've recently became fascinated with a woman named Teal Swan. I am mostly fascinated by her because at best she's a really intelligent and intuitive new age spiritual guru who has been through some shit and has a lot of wise things to say but also profits, like a LOT, off very vulnerable people looking for spiritual guidance (not much different than your friendly neighborhood megachurch pastor though, to keep it real. And those people at least have cultural acceptance going for them). And at worst she's a fucking fraud and a sociopath who has made up really big lies about her abusive past (she claims she was raised in a satanic cult and witnessed human sacrifices, could be true?) to gain notoriety in order to become a bit of a cult leader herself.. but either way, she does seem to understand the intersection of mental health and spirituality on an intuitive level and has helped a lot of people overcome depression and find their higher selves and stuff. Possibly by manipulation, because she's possibly a sociopath. But whatever.
So, utterly fascinating creature.
The thing that made me think, oh shit this lady is a bit woo woo, is she claims to be an alien from the star Arcturus and she also claims to be the reincarnation of Indian guru Sai Baba of Shirdi. Which I think just sounds straight up like her ego talking, imo. Like no one is ever just a peasant in a previous life, right? Gotta be a king or a guru or a star or some shit.
But I was thinking about reincarnation the other day, and it made me think of Teal Swan and made me wonder...oh shit, what if she really is the Indian guru Saint Baba of Shirdi?!
I was reading this article about children who have vividly described their previous lives, and it made me think about how when my son was 3 (I hope you're still with me because this is my favorite part ?) he would tell his dad and me these really descriptive stories about how when he was with his old family (his words) he lived on Long Island. He described some hill they would go to and from that hill they could see New York City.
I know, logical explanation. Teal Swan's satanic cult family talked to her as a young kid about Saint Baba of Shirdi and she internalized it and made herself believe what she imagined was actually her real memories of a past life (or she's a lying fraud, that bitch!) and at some point we talked to my kid about New York and Long Island for some reason, or he absorbed it from TV or whatever, and confused his thoughts with past life memories. I get it, there's always a logical explanation.
But you guys think...maaayyybe? Maybe reincarnation is actually a thing? We're just writing off all these people as having imaginative thoughts imprinted as memories, or we're writing them off as crazy...but what if there is actually something to it.
Yay or nay? Would the soul even have the capacity to retain memories from life to life?
