Do you believe in Demons (evil spirits)?

I'm not one of those Evangelical Christians who think every temptation to do something negative is the influence of malevolent spirits.

A lot of my personal wickedness I struggle with is poor decisions and judgement from me , not some infernal spirits.

But I believe there are spirit entities that do inspire people like Jeffrey Dahmer to hack off heads off innocent people, keep them in a refrigerator, drill holes into living heads to inject acid and try to create a living zombie, then eat their flesh.

When the Soviet Union raped Christian children in front of their parents and hauled them off to gulags to torture them into blaspheming, attending black masses to eat feces for holy communion, torturing people night after night until they go permanently psychotic from sleep deprivation and permanently confined to a wheelchair from injuries, getting others to blaspheme, then shooting them in the back of the head before they could repent , to try to destroy their soul and salvation.

All the while laughing and chanting "where is your God, as corpses are piled on top of each other and limbs amputated while people are alive and screaming bloodcurdling screams. Yes, I believe there are wicked entities behind shit like that which are more than simply neurotransmitters and electricity firing in a strangely wired brain.

The Ancient Aztecs used to sacrifice thousands of people to their Pagan gods in a day. They would conquer weaker neighboring tribes in the rainforest for the sole purpose of using the entire civilization as human sacrifices on their pyramids to spooky diabolical gods.

Their priests would scream repulsive Demonic screeching while wearing hideously frightening Demonic masks as drums banged, then cut into the terrified victim's chest and pull out the heart while it was still beating.

The arms and legs were then dismembered for cannibalism purposes and the head decapitated and rolled down the steps before a crowd of people watching with insatiable delight like something from the exorcist. Click image for larger version

I'm not saying they were savages, but that behavior certainly is. I think it comes from hell or something more than just the way people's brains are wired.

I believe that whole civilization was under the influence of powers and principalities and all sorts of wicked forces that are more than flesh and blood.

When Cortez and the Spaniards showed up to abolish human sacrifice with the Aztecs, his men were so scared he burned the ships so they couldn't retreat.

Some how, with a thousand men, he conquered an Empire of 15 million. That just isn't friggin possible, but history verifies it.

Again, it sounds like something more than luck, gun powder, and small pocks enables an army of less than a thousand men to conquer an Empire of 15 million.

The British Empire hundreds of years later had fifteen hundred men with cannons, better guns, and rocket launchers, and they met a much smaller group (tiny compared to the Aztecs) of Zulus armed with spears, and the Zulus wiped the British out.

At any rate, yes, I think there is plenty evidence for evil spirits.

Do you think so? Why or why not?

I truly believe in God...the Higher Power. Even the bible speaks of other gods...there are also the fallen angels. I think any influence from them would be malevolent. At any rate, said that - to me, to believe in one, is to believe in it all

the devil...angels, demons, and other assorted entities.

I am not one of those people that think they know ALL that is out there...in fact I'm sure there is lots and lots I don't know. That would include what kinds of beings and entities we "regular" humans encounter on a regular basis.

I don't believe demons exist. Neither do vampires, zombies, ghouls, werewolves or any other horrific supernatural being created by the mind of man.

I tend to agree. I am still unsure about woodspirits or elementary beings like that.

Hmm to me the "believe in one, is to believe in it all (angels, demons, etc.)" seems totally unneccesary and kinda dogmatic. Like just because they are mentioned they have to be real in some way? I only believe in God and do not have strong or detailed convictions of what God might be exactly. Because just like you I adhere to the wisdom that's lies in acknowledging we don't know anything for sure about God or what's beyond our experienced dimensions

I guess you could say I believe in "the big balance"...where there is good there is bad. That whole thing in Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 about there being a season for everything sums it up for me. I think it also applies to good and evil.
          One day we'll all see.

I see more use in the concepts of good and bad, and connect balance to that. Evil is a superstitious thing to me. Dahmer wasn't possessed, 'just' disturbed. Mentally sick.
