The metallicityfactor of inhabitable planets was something new I learned to factor into that number of estimated Alien civilizations. But I don't understand why that paper got so much attention, there is a sample size of 1 for the conditions in which it takes for a species to make the jump to a broadcasting civilization. I feel it's speculative beyond appropriate to assume that civilizations unfold in the same way, I dunno, it seems more like a conclusion an astrophysics nerd would come up with in their spare time while their friend is playing video games or something, rather than presented as a serious paper.

I just finished watching the 1984 movie
2010 the year we made contact.
I've seen this movie many many times,, but today's watch was mindblowingly special.
Got to thinking that the way 4.6 billion year old Jupiter blew up and was made into a star to someday turn the 4.5 billion year old ice moon Europa into a living planet triggered a theory of relief for me.
Either aliens blew up a celestial body that created our 4.6 billion year old sun or the celestial body blew up on its own creating our sun, Thus a dead ice moon slowly through billions of years turned into 4.5 billion year old life giving Earth.
Aliens planted us here through their travels in space, literally saying "hummmm, this looks like a good place"
^
This last sentence opens up a new theory of mine that I'll quote for a new post later in this thread. Ive got to get through the creation of Earth first before us beings get discussed.

Not sure how blowing up a planet could turn it into a sun or sun like thing... or how our sun might be the result of a former celestial body being blown up. Does not compute with my insights on suns (stars) and planets :P
A sun can explode or implode in one of its later phases, depending on how big it is

Lots of feelings I'm trying to figure out about this movie. Ethics and morality questions types of feelings.

Ha, i find it already funny you refer to them as them and not the one individual the movie seems to mainly be about!
