    The James Webb Space Telescope

Test image from the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), successor to the Hubble. The star, TYC-4212-1079-1, a.k.a. 2MASS J17554042+6551277, is located about 2,000 light years away in the constellation Draco. Galaxies can be seen in the background.

I've included a map of the sky showing the star's location, if anyone is interested.

Newly released image comparing the Spitzer and JWST. The region shown is in the Large Magellanic Cloud, a satellite galaxy of the Milky Way.

The S in JWST is kind of redundant isnt it?

The picture above is why i havent bothered too much with looking into the JWT
The improvement in resolution is not terribly exciting at all

Really? What qualities do you look for in a telescopic image then?

Ain't nothing to see out there but stars 'n' galaxies. I bet there will be a ton of beautiful images of such, however.

why? people can use a telescope for things other than space. i think they're well known for spying on neighbors too.

anyway, JWT is already taken by json web tokens. although i suppose you could also argue that the W is kind of unnecessary there.

Countdown to the release NASA's Webb Space Telescope 1st first full-color images and spectroscopic data. The James Webb Space Telescope (sometimes called Webb or JWST) is a large infrared telescope with a 6.5-meter primary mirror. Webb will be the premier observatory of the next decade, serving thousands of astronomers worldwide. It will study every phase in the history of our Universe, ranging from the first luminous glows after the Big Bang, to the formation of solar systems capable of supporting life on planets like Earth, to the evolution of our own Solar System.

                  Jk these are incredible!

And by "these" I mean the images I downloaded that I now am unable to upload because the file extension isn't valid

Too lazy to fix so youll just have to look up cool space nonphotos yourselves!

It looks like a page from the schematics of the Death Star.

In just that one photo we conceivably could be gazing at thousands, or millions, of civilizations. It's a relief realizing that nothing I'll ever do really matters, lol.
