Internet subject searches

So, I've noticed since maybe 2019, it's damn hard to find anything on a search engine these days.

I used to be really good @ internet search for info. But lately I can search for something in particular and not find it in one hour.
Anyone knowledgeable about any new methods?

Are the results the same on different search engines? What if you try Duck duck go?

In the last year, I have tried Duck Duck Go, Google Chrome (this is what I currently use, I've had the best luck with it)

also, Google, Bing, Yahoo, Firefox, and many that present themselves as better than the Big search engines, more freedom, etc. Most of the latter mentioned just suck.

Looked up something very specific, "the woman who hosted the show "Trucks" in 2010 on Spike TV". Tried shortening the search but no dice.
You'd think this would be a pretty narrow, direct search. But I wasted an hour doing this search in Google Chrome, never even got remotely close to a proper answer. And often I went back beyond the tenth page!

I don't understand. Used to be the one in the house that family came to when they couldn't find anything.
But I can't either, lately.

I just read a "tutorial" on how to get better results. Nothing new, other than that searches are tougher now. I had no idea! Lol..........

Thought I'd see if anyone has any insight on the subject.

If you enclose your search term(s) in quotes it'll search for the exact word(s) or phrase.

So:

Black Sabbath with Ozzy might match different results than "Black Sabbath with Ozzy"

You can also use the minus sign to negate search terms so hot -dog will not return results with hot dog. I believe you can use the addition sign for the opposite effect, where the search must include the term hot +dog shows only results with hot dog.

Close to Christmas a few years ago, there was someone advertising face lotion for women. So, thought I'd get it for the now ex.

$4.95 plus shipping.

close to a month later, got two charges on my credit card from them. One for $84. and one for $90.

So I tried to dispute the billing, to no avail. So I paid, then discontinued.

A few months later, I got a call from a law firm. Seems they had close to 80 people who were getting charged monthly, for several months.
They couldn't help me since I got them to stop the charge.
So, I got two expensive, little bottles of face cream.
