I don't think anyone really expects to go from fully fossil fuel reliant to 100% environmentally friendly instantly. That's just another example of how political discussion has completely thrown reason out the window and taken the all or nothing attitude about every issue. It's great for the people in charge who profit from having the dumbass citizens constantly fighting amongst themselves.
If we were allowed to discuss things rationally these days, it would be interesting to learn how wind power may or may not be incrementally better than the current systems in place.
