    Is sex overrated?

Do you think sex is overrated? It can for a moment feel like the greatest thing I suppose, but following climax , I feel kinda disappointed, mildly depressed/tired, and it doesn't seem like anything really got accomplished, unless I truly delighted someone I truly loved.

The women I have had adult relations with, I didn't actually truly love them. I'm crazy about women, love them dearly, just only one that I was with, on an adult-relations level, did I kinda have serious feelings for. So, it was just sort of empty!

I would recommend not having sexual intercourse with someone you don't truly love with agape love, but that is just my opinion.

As a man who has been treated and cured of two sexually transmitted diseases, and been caught in bed with another man's girlfriend, I would recommend as few partners as possible, and better to be celibate than act out our lusts, as is done here in America on average when it comes to adult relations.

    Just my humble opinion.

Also, I'm just curious, John Gacy, the killer clown:

His middle name was Wayne. So, he was John Wayne Gacy. Was he named after the movie star John Wayne?

John Wayne is cool, but I still think he was way overrated!
What does John Wayne have to do with sex??
    :
The class has been given the assignment to write an essay about sexuality.
The first pupil hands over their essay to the teacher: "A male cat and a female cat get kittens..."
Teacher says: "Very good, you'll get a B!"
The second pupil hands over their essay: "A male dog and a female dog get puppies..."
Teacher says: "Very good you'll get a B!"
The third pupil hands over their essay: "John Wayne sits on a horse while being chased by 500 angry Indians.. He turns around and shoots them all dead..."
Teacher says: "What does this have to do with sex education?"
The student responds: "Nobody Fucks with John Wayne!"

    I can't really say. I think, post-puberty, it's a little sad. I was girl crazy, once upon a time.

And our society has this obsession with youth, ergo staying virile, I suppose. A lot of people, probably more than I realize, try to hang onto that aspect of their lives, puberty. But maybe we ought to be told there comes a time to let it go.

Two people consummating love and passion is all it's good for IMO. Everything else is ludicrous.

I think that's a weird rumor created to make fun of his real name.

Sex is just a function. However, it is modern marketing that has turned sex into a commodity instead of just another function. Only for that reason can it be "rated" at all. Think about how you'd rate breathing. However, only humans have sex when there's no reproductive incentive, so there is a point where it's a tad beyond just being a function. But sexual marketing, which goes back around 20,000 years, is the only reason it can be rated at all.

Sex is used to sell everything from drill bits to baby oil.

I disagree. There is a spiritual energy exchange that comes with the sexual act. That's one of the reasons why these old chastity laws were put into place in the first place. Too many partners and one's energy starts to get really messy.

I can certainly accept that, even athiests have an "Oh GODDDDDD" moment from time to time. Otherwise, it's chemistry and it can feel as intense as a trance, makes people say and promise all kinds of things. Having invested in several rentals when I was a sailor I can say that it's certainly not spiritual every time!

Oh no, prostitution is far older, probably around 50,000 years. I'm only speaking to the marketing of sex, which began as language advanced (so much of it was reactionary for most of human history). As ideas began to factor into human communication things like incentives became important in a public way. Suddenly everyone knew that sex is actually valuable.

I don't think we're healthy, though I'd be bemused to hear a scientific study linking promiscuity to lower risk of a heart attack.

There really is no truth about this. Or, if there is one, it's mired in the sickness of society.

It seems to me a few women get off on the fact that men are so clueless, and I suspect the truth is girls just want to have fun and would as soon go picking cherries on a bright and sunny day as... Well, I'll try not to be so vulgar.

It's all rotten. Man has done with God's gift as he wished, and in his desire to never lose her, man has filled her head to the brim with garbage. Fear, greed, and hate. You don't know quite how dark it's become when your eyes have had a chance to adjust.

We don't all want this, though. I'm for women's sovereignty over their bodies. And I don't even think all these dudes are giving girls orgasms, as we all insist is of the utmost significance to everyone.

It's sexual abuse that's the real problem in this world. If people would just stop abusing each other sexually and keep their hands to themselves for a change, the divinity of the sexual act would come back into focus.

I think it's authority I despise, and sexually it's abominable to me.

I hate being controlled. I hate that others want to be controlled. And I despise controlling people.

I hate authority so much, so so much.

IMO, sex is only as overrated as the one in control of the bonding wants the other to feel. It's a powerful tool in the life of the fairer sex.
They want it as bad as any other human, but psychological power and their social value among one another trumps all base feelings. Unless alcohol is involved. I believe that when people have to get drunk, then angry in order to have sex it is a reflection of having gender expectations set much higher than the average human experience. Perhaps I see it that way from having had relationships with narcissistic sociopaths, in my opinion the human workplace coupled with typical inter-female mind games and competition breeds this kind of disdain from anything less than total perfection.

just my opinion, but I would be hard-pressed to be convinced differently.

You know, when I was a young teen I looked forward to having a wife, it's not that I'm a crappy person with bad expectations. I've always been seen as an upright, hard working, good guy. Too "nice" when I was younger... Perhaps it's where I live. One time the owner of the gentleman's club I go to asked "why are you Here?" Gotta say it puzzled me, I said to have fun. She said "I figured a guy like you would have a nice pretty wife and all"... I literally started laughing haha..

I don't doubt your experiences at all, Doom. it does make me sad that you have attached such definite ideas about gender to it.

Why does somebody have to be in control? And even then, it's almost guaranteed to be, IMO, hyperbole.

We can make dicks and vaginas seem beautiful in our imaginations. Heck (and this makes me gag) women swallow sperm!

It's all as interpreted through attitudes, which can be illusory. Where's the objectivity in love making? It's not -- it's deluded -- and people adore those delusions.

Don't get me wrong: I believe people have mutually enjoyed the act of probing before.

I’d say no. It’s the best, and I’m the best at it. Everyone says so. I should write a book.

“Being a good lover is like being a good cook. Solid experience combined with reckless passion, brought together with experimentation, focusing on the experience of the others, and always keeping em coming back for seconds.”

I read this article claiming that people pretend that sex isn’t important because they see it as an antithesis to being spiritual being because it remains them of their primal animal nature. So basically The fundamental humans tell themselves to cope with mortality (I’m not an animal) makes them turn away from sex.
