I got sent a letter saying I was required to attend Jury Duty but I was off work with a torn ligament and bulging discs in my back so applied for exemption and it was granted. Long story short I haven't done Jury Duty?

Apparently working full time and looking after kids is not a good enough reason for being exempt from jury duty. Yet someone who studies 1 subject for 2 hours a week is.
They just send you a letter saying you are on the roster for a year, then you have a certain amount of time to fill in your details online, phone number etc
Then you just get a text saying when you have to go, or its cancelled
I had it a couple years ago, all that happened is I got the letter in like August, then all that happened is like the next March I got a text saying my jury duty in May was cancelled, and I never had to turn up to anything
I had it a few years ago too. Spent 3 days in the waiting room before finding out it was cancelled.
did it again got to the last bit then the offender picked his own jury.
have not done it since

When I was called in for jury duty, I and dozens of others had to sit in a large conference room, fill out some surveys about ourselves and personal background. Then we listened to some people give lectures on the honorable civil duties of being a jury member. At the end of the lecture, they said only 10-15 of is will be selected. Thankfully they didn’t select me. And they paid me only $10 for spending 2-3 hours in that lecture. So yes, the pay is shit as Mustard Tiger says.
i might keep getting letters telling me it might be against the law to ignore them but they might not be sending them via registered mail so i might not actually be constantly throwing them out because they might not pay enough to cover the work that a jury trial would cause me to miss
