Never been to Burning Man but it seems like an event that could not possibly be replicated virtually. I'm curious about the prices for it.


As far as I'm aware, the restrictions are not stopping the local ravers. I've seen some flyers for events on secluded beaches and in underground warehouses within recent weeks. I might even have to go to one for old time sakes.

Burning man has been held virtually beforeas well as in reality, streaming the virtual areas people created online into the real world and displayed on monitors... it has been happening for the last 5 years

it is commercial and the carbon foot print left behind has been very destructive.

It says in the FAQ that they were able to get the permit but just don't have the interest from the community to make it happen this year and they heard from a lot of people who didn't feel comfortable traveling and setting up. Not enough volunteers or people interested in attending basically, basically.

Before Covid, 2020 was going to be the first year I attend Burning Man. Now it looks like have to wait again

They should open up, and tell the volunteers and sponsors to stop being germphobic. Besides, most people at burning man wear masks and respirators because of the occasional dust storms. If you actually believe paper masks will protect you from Covid, a respirator logically will too.
