Is It Fair to Castigate People For Stuff They Said in Their Teens?

I've noticed that stuff that actors, politicians, sportspeople and others posted on social media in their teens is now being dredged up and plastered all over the show.
Who among us as a teenager when hormones and testosterone were pumping thru our veins, didn't say or do something totally stupid? Now adults who made racist, sexist or homophobic posts when they were young, dumb and living with mum are being told they have to apologize for these remarks. Sportspeople are even being banned from playing for a couple of matches because of this.

I don't think this is fair ... do you?

No, I don't think it's fair. If people are not saying the same things today, that is apology enough.

I think the public just chase this stuff because it makes them feel better about themselves, and morally superior.

Of course it’s a cheap shot like hitting below the belt. We all say and believe dumb shit as kids. It’s part of growing up. I’ll be sure to teach my kids about the risks of posting cringeworthy stuff on social media.

      That’s why I like semi-anonymous forums.

No shit. Can you imagine where I'd be if people found out I'm the mayor of a small Georgia town?

My opinion, it's harsh in most cases. Except when it's libtard politicians

I'm not sure what falls under the castigate umbrella but dredging up dirt on politicians from the time they started college onward is fair game, they have a much more direct effect on people's lives and it comes with the territory. In regards to actors and athletes, they are in the public eye so they should be cognisant of what they say but unless they enter the professional ranks as a teen, I don't think it's fair to castigate them.

I think we should castrate them instead.
