Are you some type of control freak? And how did you come to this conclusion?

I usually am the one asking the questions. I don't do it with an attempt to control the convo. Maybe the one who can remain completely silent is the one in control.

I am no control freak at all. I am talking about secrets of human communication.
if a person asks a question, the hearer has to direct their mind to the question and the topic being questioned. So, in essence, the speaker of the question controls the direction of conversation.
that is just one, there are a ton of others, like learning body language, how to make people like you, how to tell if someone is lying by body language. Most of it is used by the police or sales people

We all can choose to answer whatever we want in whatever way. There is always choice.

I usually forget these kind of tips about power of language use.. But one I read recently and have tried several times... If someone says something and you want to ask more detail without making them feel interrogated.. Just repeat what they said.

                    "I'm going to the shop"
Instead of asking why, or what they're going to buy, or how long will they be.. Just repeat "you're going to the shop" and they will often elaborate. It works.

Another great one is this. While sitting at a table after a meal or discussion. Be the first one to stand up and everyone else will follow

Like imitating someone’s movement or speech or finding common ground. Which is, finding out what you have in common with someone by asking directed questions
