  • Will This Madness Ever End??

The Whiteness of French Food, Race and eating Culture in France by Mathilde Cohen who hails from the University of Connecticut School of Law.

    This
Woke academic claims France is serving “racist food."

I’d like to tell you about the idea of food whiteness in French culture, ” she says. “By this, I mean the use of food to reinforce whiteness as a dominant racial identity. The French meal is often presented as the national ritual to which every citizen can participate equally. But French food ways are shaped by white middle- and upper-class norms and the boundaries of whiteness are policed through daily food encounters. School meals – they’re to blame, she suggests. “ Food is fundamental to French identity. So too is the denial of structural racism and racial identity. Both tenets are central to the nation’s self-definition, making them all the more important to think about together."

No I don't understand her either but WTF!!!.

If you mean with 'this madness' people that will bring out weird ideas and media publishing it in order to attract readers then no.

Is this madness problematic in the grand scheme of things? Only if too many people act like it is and therefor kind of make the problematic part a self fulfilling prophecy.

As most people who seriously consider structural racism might be a real thing will not go along with this supposed issue of the whiteness of french food.

This doesn't make sense. Chocolate is the best food.

Bro everyone has a platform now because of the internet. Like 20% of people are nuts at least. Always has been, just in the past you didn't have to listen to 'em. My advice is not to.

Oh, I'm not back, but I have to protect my reputation. You know, in case I ever decide to come back full time. Which is less likely by the day. This place is a sewer, but I popped in because the shit allowed to flow through this sewer is still spreading lies about me.

Then I saw this thread and realized that same shit log would flow through here with something along the lines of "Bagel is a food racist! She supports this 100 percent!!!"

Just a preemptive strike. But this place is a toxic shithole. I am so not back. Anyway, PMs and Reddit still exist. You 2 know how to find me if you want

Try not to use ligitimate threads to spread your gospel. Why not post your own thread?

You seem to have taken the long way around to simply say that Ms Mathilde Cohen doesn't make sense. Wonder if she got paid to write such garbage?

I can't even think of a food that I would consider french. Like most white people things, french food must be not very memorable.

And to be fair, that does sound like the epitome of rich white people food.

Cassouletis a comfort dish of white beans stewed slowly with meat. The dish typically uses pork or duck but can include sausages, goose, mutton or whatever else the chef has lying around. This peasant dish originates from southern France

Salade niçoise is a typical French salad from the Provence region. Often eaten as a side dish, it can also be a light meal on its own. The salad is a mix of lettuce, fresh tomatoes, boiled eggs, (canned or fresh) tuna, green beans, Nicoise Cailletier olives, and anchovies.

Boeuf bourguignon is essentially a stew made from beef braised in red wine, beef broth, and seasoned vegetables including pearl onions and mushrooms.

The coq-au-vin (literally “rooster in wine”) is a downright symbol of French cuisine since, according to the legend, the recipe dates back from the Gergovia battle and the victory of the Gallic leader Vercingetorix over Julius Caesar. It is a variation of the famous boeuf bourguignon – cooked with rooster marinated in red wine and bacon and mushrooms.

The famous frogs’ legs. They are generally breaded or fried with a bit of onion. The meat is delicate and soft, and tastes a bit like poultry.
