Craft beer has become such a joke

I still like my beer. I still like craft beer, too, but it has become increasingly a joke with some of these heavily-fruited, heavily-hyped smoothie beers and seltzers that are more of a gimmick than anything resembling actual beer. I am beginning to think a lot of people really don't want beer. They just want something sweet that tastes like fruit juice and has 400 calories a can, that can be sold for $25 a 4-pack.

These days I am all about pilsners. Pilsners are my favorite style of beer. These are beers that taste like beer and have immense drinkability, and this is what has made beer so loved for so long.

I love imported German (Tannen Zapfle, Weihenstephaner) and Czech (Pilsner Urquell) pilsners, but there are also some GREAT breweries in the US that really make great traditional style beers, like Schilling out of Littleton, Mass, Suarez Family out of Livingston, NY and Bierstadt Lagerhaus out of Denver, Colorado.

What have y'all been enjoying lately? I know there are a number of beer lovers in here.

What are you on probation for? That is if you don't mind my asking.

Great fucking beer. Yeah, that is most certainly a classic, and the origin of that style of beer.

I too have noticed lately when I go to a taphouse all the craft beers, no matter what style, seems geared towards being as fruity as possible. It's weird. I just find myself ordering whichever beer has the simplest description

Simple is always better. In beer and in life!

Yups, such beers don't suit people who themselves are as fruity as possible

I always was primarily about pils(ner)

But not stuff like Heineken or Amstel (the dutch Budweisers).

Brandt, Hertog Jan, Grolsch, Stella Artois, Warsteiner, that kind of pils

maybe it's just a summer thing, but i've suddenly found myself enjoying some of those fruity beers lately. there have also been a couple that were just awful; i had an orange one not that long ago that was hard to even finish.

a couple that i've actually liked enough to buy more than once:

                elysian space dust

                goose island ipa

Space Dust is my go-to beer if the bar has it on tap

Regrettably I never made it to the town of Plzn. The birthplace of Pilsner

I'm probably guilty of enjoying fruity beers. I love a good sour and I like most Belgian beers, too. I went to a Belgian beer bar and had this, and now it's one of my all-time favorites. It's a Flander's Red Ale.

That is a classic. One of my favorites in fact. If you like this, you will love Rodenbach, especially the Grand Cru and Alexander.
