Honestly i'm just sick of websites that refuse to unsubcribe you from their email list because the love to constantly like to bombard you with their rubbish offers and inane company messages hoping for sales of any sort, they think it's their given right to continue to do it even of you've chosen to opt out of all email contact from them.

HF was really cool in 2005 because you could sign into the chat room without being a member. You just keyed in a nickname and you were in. I was Yanker McShanker back then and I didn't give 2 farts for forums. But I evolved since new software made membership necessary to interact at all. My IP says I'm 15 miles from where I actually am.
Then came the Mod Wars that spanned 2007-2009. In the middle of it Sk'hickup made me a chat Mod and the other mods went full rabid on me. SO much drma and SO hard to give a fuck enough to formulate a response beyond an initial rebuke. They pulled out all the classics from calling me gay to insisting I was into children. It was weird to hear it from the particular people who were spewing it.
Any time I have been a Sysop or a moderator I have avoided radical responses. If someone posts spam, away they go. But interceding in only a sequence of a long-term drama club presentation is only a useless speed bump for people who feed on each other's perceived weaknesses. It's one of our more primitive thought trains that's well established in it's section of the brain.
I ain't Freud. So snap out of it.

i work for one of those annoying companies that ignores unsubscribe requests. it's because we used to use constant contact for our mass emails, but then my boss had some petty shit fit about the fact that they charged us to use their service and cancelled them (actually made me cancel them, and told me to insult the poor customer service person on the other end of the phone line while i was doing it). so just before cancelling, we exported our email list and just use that for all our mass emails through a free service now. so the unsubscribe notifications go nowhere, and when someone actually calls to complain about it, the people who do the mass emails refuse to listen to me when i tell them they should just go take the person off the list manually.
