A thread about the dentist ?

I have never been fond of the dentist. But of course as life progresses it is necessary . I went today to get my teeth cleaned and it was terrible as usual.
I often wonder what they did for dental issues 1000 years ago. I imagine it was brutal.

my favorite is the root canal procedure j/k
just remember kids, floss and brush everyday. As you get older you will realize how important teeth are, especially for chewing food like carrots ?

ugh, i keep forgetting to schedule my cleaning. i'm like a year overdue. i don't even mind doing it, and it's 100% covered by insurance, i just never think about calling them when they're open.

i don't know about 1000 years ago. we keep hearing about how surprisingly advanced things were in the distant past. they probably had the best teeth back then.

Meh. Just call and leave a message and they'll probably get back to you. Or leave yourself a note. Or maybe ask people here to call you out on your procrastination in order to motivate you.

In Medieval Europe, they'd brush their teeth with salt and a stick. I think they had dentistry, but it was like these horrifying tongs they'd use to rip out teeth.

On the other hand, they didn't eat so much sugar back then, and they also didn't live that long.

I had a wish to reach age thirty without fillings and I've gone past that with still no issues. I haven't been to a dentist for ten years. I have one tooth where the gum has receded and is occasionally sensitive. I should probably get them all checked out soon. I don't even know where the nearest dentist is to here. I take pretty good care of my mouth now. The worst time for teeth would have been my drinking years, as i consumed vast quantities of coca cola with whiskey and would rarely brush them before passing out.

So what you're saying is that eating lots of sugar is the key to a long life. Got it!

My wife went yesterday but they do the cleaning dry without spraying any water or anything because that is an aerosolizing procedure. Sounds gross to me so I'm going to wait. I only go once every 5 or 6 years anyway. I should go more often, and I have coverage, but I just really don't like it, and I've never had any issues.

Last time i was at the dentist was probably around 2004 or 2005. But i do remember they made a movie about the greatest dentist that ever lived.

Funny, I just went for a cleaning Wednesday! My gums were a bit raw, but I kindof enjoyed it still. :P I mostly always enjoyed the cleanings. Did NOT like the last filling they did because the numbing needle screwed with my nerve and I had to go back and have it all done again with a soothing cloves thing mixed in.

Also, I've never had my wisdom teeth removed and when I inquired about this in my 20s, they looked and found that it was too risky to do. However, now I have one that just broke through the gumline, and dentist referred me for xrays/evaluation, because she believes it was only the bottom teeth that risk was concerned, not the top that's growing out now. So...I'll maybe have to have that done, and t bh, that has terrified me for years...im feeling better about it now, but when I actually have to go in, it might be different. :/

i never had my wisdom teeth removed either. for the longest time, they never even formed within my gums. but last time i was at the dentist the bottom two showed up on the x-ray. at this rate i might have to have them removed when i turn 90.

Every marine gets their wisdom teeth removed. Whether needed or not. I only had 3

if they're damaging your mouth, i think removing them would be a sign of your wisdom.

You expect me to consider two separate posts when making a reply? It's hard enough to consider two sentences in the same post.
