The direction things are going should give anyone pause. Even if you are not a "conspiracy theorist" like me (not a title I have given myself), you have to at least have an idea just how fast this technology is progressing in order to prepare yourself for the world that lies ahead. The technology is progressing so fast that in another ten years, many people who now have a job will not have a job. Robotics and artificial intelligence will have filled those roles, and there are going to be scores of people out of work and dependent on the government for survival. This is where the whole idea of a guaranteed income, or Universal Basic Income -- something that has often been touted by the left -- comes in. They started really talking about this around the start of lockdown. The idea will only gain further traction as the economy starts to topple to make way for The Great Reset/4th Industrial Revolution of the ultra rich, which is to coincide with an extreme reduction of the population. So basically, the government will take care of you by doling out your weekly allotment, which will be a pittance and barely enough to live at subsistence level. That is of course only if you follow government orders, take all your required "vaccines"/injunctions, are "politically correct", and do not speak negatively of the government. It will be based on a social credit system not unlike the one currently being used in China, controlled by the big tech corporations we all rely on every day via Google, Facebook, and the internet at large. This is just a fraction of what we are up against.

I've entered the I don't care phase of my life. Innovation requires diversity and adversity. It can't be streamlined no matter how aerodynamic a robot makes something. If the almighty "they" don't comprehend that, it's their own undoing. They can walk around Earth 2.0 with fig leaves draped across their junk and ritualistically pray to an owl god for fresh water.
I suppose being dumb enough to be arrogant enough to believe wealth and prestige are the mothers of invention go hand-in-hand. They can rot in mediocrity. Elon isn't going to invent a warp drive or a cure for cancer (or worse) and neither is quantum computing.
Some people are just so impressed with their own leisure they think it's symbolic of the elegance and potential of their own blood.
It's not. And I don't care anymore. They want us gone, they want us unable to think,, create,, and innovate...well I hope for their sake they truly are the master race..
There's not much to the lucrative art of bullshit when there's no one left to bullshit.

Yeah, both had a big impact on me.
The Orson Welles documentary on Future Shock is hilarious (still good).
Starts with him in an airport walking on one of those moving sidewalks smoking a big cigar with people directly behind him.
I think the first words out of his mouth were “In my line of work - Which has brought me to nearly every corner of the globe…”
Only guy in the world that would do a doc on a book so monumental, only to start off by bragging about himself. True showmanship.

Pressed_Rat the only reason you’re called a conspiracy theorist is because the people who give you that label don’t do any real research.

*bows* The scary part is, narcissists believe their own bullshit. And the unfortunate part is, good people can only project unto others what's in their own hearts.
I fear this wannabe empire has become a playground for antisocial people. Psychos learn to wear masks in their youth to avoid punishment and seek reward.
I don't take the credit...I'm just privy to the fact that occasionally cunning people actually are just born rotten.

Automation has been adjusting our population for a long time. But in the span of human history it's only a sliver. So more people are living long enough to witness more and more of this transition. So many now that it's beginning to gin up real fear.
I suggest everyone learn how to make gunpowder, lye, soap and to purify water. Probably good to master winemaking as well. And growing microgreens.

We have to adjust to changes on the work floor and in the job market. Automation is not some kind of scam to hurt or enslave people. But yes, it can be an intrinsic side effect.
Problem is that a certain amount of people that lose their jobs to automation can not easily adapt, as not specialised manual labour becomes less and less.
Curiously enough companies that require specialized/skilled manual labour often have trouble finding employees these days..

People waste time hating ideas that could be great ideas, or could be terrible ideas, depending on who wields them, and why, and what their goal is.

Do you think a right wing government offers you more freedom and autonomy than a left wing government?
I am not right or left, because those are just limiting labels that put people in a box. I will say this agenda we see unfolding regarding COVID, cancel culture, etc. is definitely being promoted primarily by the left, but that does not mean I see the other side as offering any real solution. The political right merely pays lip service to what a certain group of people want to hear. At the end of the day, the only real solution is total non-compliance.
As I have stated before, I am not political and do not vote, so I do not have political biases. I merely call it as I see it.

I just think it matters because UBI and technology could be part of a utopia just as readily as a dystopia.
