Yay for who appears at no 17 on the list for women (how this got my attention in the first place) but Kamala Harris as well? For doing what?

Well, from my perspective, thats kind of you fault, well, not you alone, all straight guys

Jolie, Johansson and Watson are mainly on that list because they all at one time were the ones you all most wanted to fuck and became rich and famous because of it

Also from my perspective, dudes that are on that list for kicking or hitting a little ball around is just as retarded as women being on that list for mostly standing their looking pretty or sticking their boobs out. Kohli and Tendulkar are cricketers. Ronaldo is the only hot guy on that list, but still just for dumb soccer. Chan, Lau and most of the other indian names are just actors

If you count Michelle as a president by proxy there are just as many female politicians on that list as male ones

The one that pisses me off the most being on either list is Gates. There were thousands of smarter guys that made MS what is is today, well, what it was 10 years ago, no he is not anyone special, no giving less than 1% of your wealth away in 40 years does not make you a hero

athletes i understand a little more than hot people, at least the athletes had to work their asses off at something to become that good at it. politicians i understand how they get on the list, there's still a lot of naive people who believe what politicians say. but yeah, in general i don't really see the point in admiring people you don't actually know. most famous people got famous either by random luck or by being a little bit evil while hiding it well.

but realistically, if it weren't for the sex appeal, she probably wouldn't have had to opportunity to do a lot of the humanitarian stuff. or if she did, a lot fewer people would have known about it. so even if the sex is not actually why she's on the list, she probably wouldn't have been there without it.

i don't actually know what humanitarian stuff she does/did, so i'm kind of just guessing. but that's usually how it works with celebrity humanitarians (not necessarily based on sex appeal, but being famous for whatever reason gives them the means to do humanitarian things, and is the reason people know about it).

However, if a woman wins an acting award for objectively good acting, it's for the acting. But she most likely wouldn't have become a famous actor unless men wanted to fuck her.

So yes. If you look at it that way, basically every award or accolade ever given to a woman, for anything, is actually because men want to fuck her.

i'm certainly not trying to say that sex appeal is the reason for every accolade (yeah, VG probably is saying exactly that). even the famous hot people didn't get famous only because they're hot; there's a lot of even hotter people who don't get famous. all i'm saying is that the hotness is a contributing factor in some cases, and i do think jolie is one who did leverage her sex appeal to help her acting career.

it's not all women. kathy bates comes to mind as a woman who i think has won multiple acting awards and was never known for her sex appeal, for example. and i also hope VG's wrong about emma watson, since she became famous when she was like 10 (i just googled her to make sure she was who i thought she was, and apparently she does women's rights work which is probably the specific reason she's on the list).

Nah look at the list.

None of the men on the list are conventionally attractive. If they are considered sex symbols by some it's more because they're rich, smart, successful and nominally okay looking

Whereas a lot of women on the list are known for their exceptional beauty...Angelina Jolie, Scarlett Johanssen, Emma Watson, Taylor Swift, Priyanka Chopra, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
