Do you consider yourself to be a routine person?

I can be a very routine person, which is great when I establish a healthy routine. I tend to stick to it for years.

Can be bad when I slip into an unhealthy routine as I can also stagnate there for a long time πŸ˜…

What does your daily routine look like? Is there anything you do every single day? Any new routines you would like to establish?

I've been listening to this Andrew Huberman podcast and he gives great advice on how to do things at a certain time of day to make the most of the release of certain hormones and neurotransmitters

A few things I want to work on incorporating into my daily routine:

Going outside and getting sun exposure first thing in the morning. In the first 10 minutes of waking up or at daybreak, whichever comes first

Followed by a couple of minutes of cyclic hyperventilation and then a 5 minute cold shower

The cold showers are going to be a tough routine to establish lol

Yes. But my routines are not really working for me anymore. I should get new routines. One I think I need is just going to bed at max. midnight or 1 AM and get up at max 8 AM. I may have to cut back on smoking weed in the evening...

Does weed keep you awake? What time do you normally go to bed and get up?

Weed keeps me greatly entertained which keeps me up for longer than I should. But when you smoke a last one at 3 AM and go sleep at 4 AM you will of course not get up at 9 AM (if you don't have to). So in the wintry months where I don't work slowly but certainly my routine becomes later and later. I just ignore my alarm clock in the morning because I can lol. Well, could. Next week not anymore.
Was planning to slowly get myself in the working hours routine this month, but I did not :P The sudden change is gonna be a drag. Only thing I'm mildly wary of is geting to sleep at like max 12 o clock before working days. If I succeed in getting 5 hours of sleep minimal I can get through the work day just fine. If not, the work day is gonna suck in esp the last few hours (im driving a car after all), and I'm done for the rest of the day afterwards.. Pretty sure thats gonna be the case in the first week. Been so lazy in the last few months, plus slacking on the work routine.

^^^ weed definitely stops me sleeping. But it's fine if my last smoke is two hours before I want to sleep. It's this habit I have of smoking RIGHT before I sleep that is the problem. It's actually a hangover from my tobacco days, and smoking a cigarette before sleeping. But weed isn't like tobacco. My brain starts whirring and won't shut down. It's weirdly difficult to persuade myself to stop doing it though, and specifically it always feels like it's going to HELP sleep.

I am definitely a routine person. I do like to develop new ones from time to time though. I used to try too hard to maintain ones that were once useful, but now aren't. That's a trap I've just recently learned to avoid.

I never would have got into running the way I did if I hadn't decided that certain days were running days, and nothing could change that. Not rain, not snow, not temperature. Because if I'd have just missed a day because it was raining, then what if it rains for two weeks? The minute I missed one day, it would have given me permission to miss any day where I didn't 100% feel like it.

So I guess the point was mostly about teaching myself to do things regardless of what I felt like. And that taught me that often, when I think I don't feel like doing something, if I do it anyway it's fine. I never regretting going for a run, ever.

Now I trust myself to not fall out of the habit of running, so I have no routine around it.

I love the sensation after cold showers/baths. I think once you maintain that habit a while, your body learns the whole experience and the difficult part gets less difficult because you know a nice feeling is part of it.

Showers are better than baths for me because I can hop around and moving like that makes it more bearable, haha. Oh, Mel, I read something about a Buddhist cold bath training that you would really appreciate... I don't know what I did with the article but the end point was that if you try and focus on something else, to bear the discomfort, it's actually worse. And the point is to teach you to focus on the cold, on the actual act.

Also: it kinda feels like a waste to me to smoke right before sleeping. I wanna enjoy the high.

Going to bed 1 or 2 hours after getting stoned = superb sleeping usually

I'm the same way with weed, if I smoke right before bed I just want to stay up and listen to music and think about weird shit

Same when I used to run, I didn't allow myself any excuses. Until one day I did (it was honestly jusy unbearably hot that dayπŸ˜…), and stopped doing it completely haha

Ya know, that does make sense about focusing on the cold. It's the same principle as meditation; you don't want to push the thought away because it's counterproductive so you acknowledge it. I can see that working with the cold too. Acknowledging it rather than thinking of something else.
plus i think its kind of impossible to focus on anything else haha. Being in cold water certainly brings you into the present like few things can

Thus far I'm doing a lousy job incorporating cold showers into my routine. I took a cold shower Sunday. And really had a great, productive morning actually. It does elevate your mood and give you lots of energy. Must do it all week. Starting tomorrow

I'm not a routine person anymore. Those days are gone. I only dabble in a few (have to) everyday routines.

                    1. Feed my Goldens
                    2. Brush n floss my teeth
                    3. No using alcohol
                    4. No using cuss words
                    5. No using drugs
                    6. Eat at least 1 meal
                    7. Put on clothing/footwear

A new routine I'd like to establish is: Better Posture and Walking.

I make it a point never to be routine initiating sex with a woman. Changing of positions is also a constant attempt of not falling into a routine. Never the same position in a row.

I try to change locations as well. (All these have been done in the last 12 months) Looking to discover more......

                    Chevy Tahoe

I read this too fast and my mind combined these into hot air balloon. Which would certainly be an exciting option if you managed to pull it off.

I think the closest I would get to that idea is a walk-in closet that's completely filled with colorful balloons and have sex on the floor.

πŸ€” you've got me brainstorming now

Sex in either a hot air balloon or a closet filled with balloons both sound intriguing.

I've started a new running routine where I run along the lanes to the main road and back, at about five. I don't know why, I just started doing it and have done it every day for a while. It takes about forty five minutes. Not today though. I've decided I will do the same thing Monday to Friday until the shop opens.
