    War War is War.

The USA as the leader of the so called "Free World" aka "The West", has been involved in several wars since the end of World War ll.

The two biggest wars were: Korean War ... 40,000 US soldiers killed and 100,000 wounded. The Viet Nam war ... 58,220 U.S. military killed and 304,000 wounded.

Both these wars were far far away from the USA. Now Brandon wants to involve the USA in another war in Europe which is also some distance from America's shores.

All I can ask is why and who profits from these wars?

The United Nations profit from these wars most of all. The are the people/ the organization that derives profit from warfare by selling weapons and other goods to parties at war. TheY ones who decide these days. Olympics and what country hosts it is decided by them as well now. Why Beijing?

War technology has greatly benefited humanity

Part of the answer is because Beijing has always had everything in place for organizing and controlling large scale events.

Shanghai would look better (aesthetically), but it’s the financial capital and they don’t do the whole mixing business with pleasure thing.

Imagine if the olympics were taking place in Toronto or Ottawa right now. The police wouldn’t be able to do anything if a protest occurred (not saying the protests are unwarranted - just that the olympics are a business and corporations need to protect their investments)

Another way to look at is it that all of Asia + India and increasingly more and more, Africa - all look towards China for what’s to come in the future.

People in other countries can see how polarized the west is, and mostly coming from (relatively) culturally homogeneous societies themselves, want no part of it.

Who’s more likely to lose their way of life in the next 20 years? The average Joe in a country that imports more foreign workers than it trains domestically? Or those apart of a thousands-of-years-old culture who’s government doesn’t even grant foreign doctors or bankers a visa for longer than one year at a time.

If it’s loss of culture one wants to avoid, taking a page out of China’s book might help (aka having balls and not handing the country over to foreigners/special interest groups) - or we’ll all be calling Dundas street whatever they come up with after the next protest.

Quark I think there is more to it than that in picking Beijing.
“The International Olympic Committee is fully aligned with the United Nations Agenda 2030. In fact already last December we have adopted our Olympic Agenda 2020 which address among many other reforms exactly goal 16 of the Sustainable Development Goals. This Olympic Agenda 2020 is based on three pillars: the pillar of sustainability, the pillar of credibility and the pillar of youth.
If you want to enjoy credibility as an organization, then you have to be accountable, you need to be effective and you need to be inclusive.“

So even though pollution there is horrendous, air quality is really bad, especially in winter, yet it was chosen and human rights seems to not be a concern for the United Nations. The fact that it has 5 centimetres of snow on the ground during winter is a good reason to pick them for Winter Olympics? Why aren’t they worried or considering elsewhere... isn’t China a huge contributor to climate change? Lol

The Olympic committee has a seat in the United Nations and is controlled by them. Their agenda is one in the same. It is political choices in my opinion.

China is the other extreme end of the spectrum though. I get what you are saying
But Id go for the model in Singapore, Japan, Sth Korea over China

Xenophobic and proud, no wokeness, but without the Communism
China also has a couple hundred million more men then women and is just going to have way too many old people very soon, that wont end well
