    Driving behind Miss Daisy

My mom is the biggest offender in my social circle that yells n screams at other people's driving habits.

I constantly have to remind her that the other driver can't hear her. I tell her how pointless it is to rant and rave about it to me or to my step-dad.

As I lightly tell her to put her big girl pants on and don't let those situations bother her, she stops and becomes quiet.

I then immediately change the subject to something lighter so we can have a more positive conversation.

I've found myself on a daily basis driving behind miss daisy. I don't say a word, no gestures, no look overs, I just ignore and drive safely.

When I pass miss daisy, who's driving 55mph in a 70mph, I keep my head forward looking straight at the next vehicle ahead of me.

However, I get the sense that miss daisy looks over at me in disgust, as I'm speeding 15 miles more per hour past her.

    Question for the treeforter's

Do you rant out loud when annoyed by the driving habits coming from the driver ahead of you?

Do you look at them or gesture as you pass them?

Any form of road rage is beta mentality.
My mom's a beta through and through.

If road rage is beta, then these guys in their big pickup trucks who block you from getting in their lane on the interstate, then smile @ you later...are alpha...
That sounds right. I had trouble rationalizing road rage as beta until I realized that. Which is funny though, some of the guys I know who exhibit road rage tendencies tried their best over the years to come off as alpha. Interesting

Other than Big Rigs and traffic, people don't really drive under the speed limit here. I think having some road rage is imperative, you're going to constantly get cut off or not allowed over if you don't show a bit of aggression on the road. That said, I pretty much just cuss under my breath, basically how I am with video games, generally, I don't do gestures or make a scene.

I once called the non-emergency police line on a guy who was deliberately stalling freeway traffic by driving 15 mph beneath the limit in the fast lane, driving parallel to a 3-trailer semi. You could tell he was doing it on purpose to make those behind him suffer. I let them know where they could find that black Chrysler 200.

I’m usually not much of a road rager, but I often expressed PG-13 rated expressions of bewilderment or frustrations if someone’s being a fool.

But there was one time several years ago, I got really angry when the people in front of me refused to go on a green light because they were too busy talking to panhandlers. I politely honked my horn reminding them it’s a green light. The hobo on the street told me to fuck off because he’s busy talking to them. So I laid on the horn to interrupt their conversation. They waited until the light turned yellow then sped away. I chased after them for a while.

There's a good Bukowski poem about giving the middle finger to another driver and it looking dumb. I'll try and find it later.

I speak out loud to drivers when I'm cycling. Usually to tell them they're being dramatic for pulling over into the hedge, or coming to a stop. I'm learning to not let it annoy me. I noticed that when I cycled after having a smoke it didn't annoy me at all, and if that's true then it doesn't need to annoy me sober, either.

I'm probably the only cyclist in the world who gets annoyed by drivers going overboard to be carful of me lol.. when a car passes me at full speed I often tell them "well done".

have you driven on an interstate highway through Arkansas?

this is standard driving practice there.

I don't think it's purposeful, they just don't know any differently. It's a regular occurrence, and also causes speeding tickets for out of state commuters, since putting the foot to the gas and getting around them ASAP is the only way around the calamity.
