I've had a portrait of a duck in my mind I've wanted to paint for a while. I'll have to examine a duck's face, though. No matter how many times I've seen a duck, my mind's eye can't reconstruct a picture in my head.

And I wonder if all people are like that -- if any of us have truly vivid, picturesque imaginations or just greater vocabularies to mark as placeholders for a lack of true vision. You know what I'm saying?

We imagine the imagination to be full of images, but I doubt this. It's as much vocabulary. I wonder if anyone sees things plain-as-day in their mind's eye. It must take some mental effort to form true visuals, if so.

I can see a duck every time I think of a duck, which is weird in itself, but it doesn't form its own lingering thought bubble. Quack.

i've never heard seagulls compared to ducks. usually seagulls are compared to rats. either flying rats, or rats with wings, or sea rats. i really don't get the seagull hate myself. people here act like they're equally evil as geese. but geese ruin everything good with giant piles of shit, hang out in packs in the middle of the road and refuse to move for cars, and attack anyone that gets close. seagulls just fly around and make that seagull noise that basically announces "hey, you're near a large body of water! have some dopamine!"

There were a pair of ducks that came around for about a month each year where I grew up. They were pretty chill, we would feed them and they hung out around the cat sometimes. I don't think they understood the concept of being pet because they shied away from that but overall cool that they kept us in their thoughts each year.

I love seagulls and also dislike the hate they get... BUT... idk about over there but seagulls here can be quite aggressive. I've heard of people getting attacked whenever they go in their garden, because the gulls have chicks on their roof or something. And there's common occurrences of food being stolen out of people's hands.

But the hate is still not justified because humans have taken up so much space, and throw out so much food, that we caused these bad behaviours. They're much worse in bigger towns than the village I live, proving my point. Also imagine how much junk they eat. We know what that does to kids so why wouldn't it have the same effect on gulls. Too much sugar.

I've definitely witnessed some food stealing, but nothing more aggressive than that.

We get that with magpies who want your food.

We also get the odd cocky rudely telling people where to go!!!

We get galahs, currawongs - which are grey birds, ducks that have been mentioned in here, magpies, and sparrows
