What have you learned from the Covid Pandemic?

What have you learned either directly or indirectly from the Covid Pandemic?

My list to start is as follows:
    • What a coronavirus is
    • US State governors wield much more power than I had thought
    • Prominent health organizations such as the CDC and WHO can give very unreliable recommendations (Based off their contradictions)
    • There is a great deal of variability in people's responses to viruses, some can by asymptomatic while others become very ill
    • Biosafety level 4 labs are labs with the highest level of biosafety precautions.

Learned that there are many selfish idiots out there who just don't give a flying fuck about all of this.
Learned that these selfish morons are a bunch of Karen syndrome idiots who think that it's funny to make everyone cop their germs.
They don't follow the covid19 Protocols.

I'm an anarcho socialist so it reaffirmed my belief of don't rely on the government for anything. Fuck the government, let the community come together to do the right thing to protect itself. Case in point New Mexico. I read an article a little while ago that I can't seem to find about how the citizens of New Mexico banded together and did the following things:

Researched the best materials and methods for making PPE such as masks and people with knowledge of sewing etc went to work making it themselves in bulk to share with their neighbors, and communities.

Researched how to sterilize PPE and medical equipment using insta pots and pressure cookers.

The positive results of past action:

Doreen McPaul, the Attorney General for the Navajo Nation, says she's proud of the Irish outpouring of support during the coronavirus crisis in part because of her Irish roots.

With all due respect to Geonagual. IQ45 has been trying to control the CDC for propaganda purposes. Just listen to the Woodward tapes. I don't trust Trump but given his track history I do trust Woodward. The thing with the CDC is they are constantly dealing with new information and have to adjust recommendations due to the data currently available. That is the nature of science even it isn't cast in stone it is at best a snapshot of a moment of understanding.

You obviously don't know that there are different schools of thought regarding Anarchism as a philosophy.

Anarcho Socialist means building ones own community that sustains itself without interference from outside authorities. The community works together towards common goals and the prosperity of all members. The overall method is as simple as helping your neighbor that needs help.

Essentially don't be a selfish asshole because it will bite you on the ass eventually.

Learned some things about collective trauma and how people react to sudden change, learned some things about hysteria and stupidity. Learned a thing or two about the individualism ethos in the US. Learned the people in charge dont have a clue so we're probably all fucked. Maybe not now, but eventually

Yep. From the beginning i was very surprised by peoples reaction to this. Also like Audiogen mention above about government control and how much power they have or how much power we give them. Not so sure i would consider all this much of a learning. More of a surprise i guess. Like somewhere deep down i felt i knew all this. Just surprised how everything came about.

I also became a much more proficient number puzzle solver.

Look who's talking. The irony of you posting this is lost on you.

That it should be illegal for people to sit next to you on the bus

There are a lottttt of sick and "immunity compromised" people in my country

I knew the elder care system was flawed but I never knew how deeply until this year

Most businesses were only hanging on by a thread and being shut down for a few months ruined the whole company

There are a lot more conspiracy theorists out there than I thought. And they are quite bold with their "beliefs"

Crowded societies and how we deal with animals in the food industry are a ticking timebomb.
