What Was Important Before COVID?

The last thing I can think of that everyone was arguing about was Greta Thunberg. I was still on HF at the time. Then gradually Corona took over and Greta must not have been all that important anymore.

Any similar memories of the last "normal" things we were fighting about?

i'm not sure, but i think there was like a year between greta and covid so there were definitely several things. that's the problem though, back then you would argue violently about something for a day and then find something else. for the last 7 months now (to the day, in ohio at least) it's just been masks, with brief interludes of whether police should be allowed to kill everyone or just people who aren't black. and of course playing fuck, marry, kill with the two presidential candidates.

Terrorism. Fears of terrorism scared people from traveling by plane, going to big cities, and even leaving their home. People at least were more patriotic and sung the national anthem back then.

Now instead of terrorism that keeps people afraid, it’s a virus. But have no problem going to mass gatherings to protest and burn flags.
