Since I'm unemployed and the jackwagon state case workers who keep trading my file around are basically useless, I'm taking time to get rid of crap I have collected for no good reason over the years. I have vacuum tubes, model kits, a complete My Little Pony original series figurine collection, trading cards and other assorted junk.
While I have sold some stuff, I find that buying is very different on eBay these days. My biggest grip is the automatic bidding system.
I spotted a uranium glass piece that I liked, it was only going for $10, so I raised it to $15. But that's not what happened. Instead my bid showed up as a buck and a half higher than the latest bid. That's not what I wanted. If I have the balls to raise a bid by 50%, I'm doing it now, not a few shekels at a time over the next 4 hours.
So now any other bidder below $15, myself included, is wasting their time if they don't top my bid, only they can't see it, so they don't know this.
I've been going to auctions since I was a kid, and I have never seen such a fucked up way to do things. The only way to realistically buy from eBay it seems is to use the "Buy it Now" option for whatever price they show. Which means it's just plain retail. Otherwise, you're just spinning your wheels.
