    Do you own your house?

What’s house prices like over in the US?

Keen to see if people mainly rent or own houses over there. We bought ours about 7 years ago for $500k. It’s probably worth around $850k now. We have done a bit of work to it.

I rent an apartment. House prices vary hugely depending on where you are. You can buy a shit house here for like $15,000, but go up to the lake shore and some of those cost a million.

      kinda, sorta
mother moon -she's calling me back to her silver womb,
father of creation -takes me from my stolen tomb

a symptom of the universe, a love that never dies!

Even if the house market wasn't totally fucked in my country, I would not be a home owner.

Renting now. Average prices for a home in this city is about $590,000. I am buying a home in the desert within the next year. Considerably less in price

is it similar there to the UK?

I'm not 100% sure, but from what I've heard, yes roughly similar. We have even less space though, and a more intensive agricultural farming industry. So what is happening in areas like Amsterdam is comparable to an area like London, but the situation in the more rural areas might be even worse than in the UK. Too less houses, let alone for a normal price. What otherwise would go to a starter family or a young person now goes to people with money who move away from the city.

I own my home. I got a really good deal for it, I bought it from a family member right when the market was starting to go bananas here, but I think my relative was clueless to that. If I put a little work into it I could probably sell it for 3 times what I bought it for if thats any indication of how cray cray the market has been..i've only owned it for 3 years.

That's an awesome luxury to have! Yes, if it isn't a total piece of crap you are almost guaranteed to be able to sell it with profit in the current house market.

My brother is planning to do it. He did not even merely buy a house already, but build it himself (he's a carpenter in construction). He will move with his family to my parents property (former farm) and likely sell his house in the town with a nice profit.

Last I knew, my county was the poorest in the state. You generally would not find that kind of price anywhere in most parts of the US.

Not Counting The Original Family Home, I Have Owned Two Houses.

The First Was A "Kit Home" I Built On The Family Farm In 1984.

It Was Small.....40ft x 24ft.....And I Haven't Got A Bad Word To Say About It.

Lived In It For 30 Years, Then To Settle A Family Dispute I Sold The Farm And

In 2014 Bought This Beautiful Big House(307 sq m ) On 5 acres.......

Pleased To Say I Am Very....Very....Happy Here And Hope That My Health Allows

Me To Live Here For Many Years To Come......

                              Cheers Glen.
