  • Cool Words

I've been thinking about starting my clothing line but I need a name, so I've been compiling words that I think are cool, and I'd like to hear some of yours : )

    So far, I have:
    • Triplicities
    • Woudstra
    • Scullery
    • Cotillion
I can't use Woudstra because it's the name of a dude I know, but I always thought it was a cool name.

Sure I do. At the moment they're all farm-based. Still, I'm sober, so I'll give it some thought. For the moment though, how about:

      Wear Wolves
      Thread Bear
      Heddles Magic
      Artis Fabrique
      Sewing Dischord
      Bi Mi Dye
      E. Aye Oh
      Sushi Q
      Panno Es
      Ars Linteum
      Yo Diddly

Scullery is a really cool word. It sounds brutal and profound :-)

On a ship, it's where the dishes are washed. Scullery duty was some of the most hated of ancillary Navy tasks. Washing dishes isn't so bad, on land...........

Clandestine grabs my attention big time. If I ever decide to open any kind of shop or restaurant, I'd purposely use words to make people say, WTF?

            Godawful Waffle House (Restaurant)

Wretched Words to Live By (Bookstore)

            :-)

One of my favourite books as a kid was about a girl who's fairy godmother was also the scullery maid of the house. I think it just means "kitchen worker"?

                  Churl = Angry peasant
Hoodwink = an act of trickery
Finicky = Works only part of the time. Unreliable
Starboard = Right side of a ship
Kaleidoscope = A visual toy with light prisms

These words sound cool to me.

If you really like words, consider William Shakespeare. He literally added hundreds of words and terms to the English lexicon. Terms like Comfortable, Bated Breath, Indistinguishable and Bedroom. Some words were just nouns used as verbs and that sort of liberty. And most of his terms were actually useful, unlike Lewis Carroll's collection of useless terms in Jabberwocky.

                      Gramercy
This familiar British place-name has its origins in a now-obsolete exclamation of pleased surprise stemming from the French grand merci

                      Cavil
A verb meaning to raise trivial and oftentimes irritating objections or to find fault unnecessarily; from the Latin cavillari, meaning to jeer or scoff

                      Churlish
An adjective used to describe a rude, boorish, or miserly person, it takes its origins from 9th-century England, where a cherl or ceorl was a title given to a freeman of the lowest rank

                      Frisson
A sudden, passing shudder of emotion or excitement, frisson originates from the Latin frictio, meaning to shiver and as a derivative of frigere, meaning to be cold; related to the word “friction”

                      Gargalesthesia
A term given to the sensation caused by being tickled
"The embers of our past lives lie smouldering within us awaiting the winds of remembrance to fan them in flames of reality." Dax.

The words don't have to associate with fashion! But I am looking for some inspiration. I also just like cool words lol
