  • So what makes a Social Media Site Great?

So lets start of by saying what doesn't. So like "whats your fave boy band? Do you love Justin Beiber? Lets all pray for Charles who is ill." Crap like that will chase away anyone dumb enough to have joined your site in the first place. What is needed is controversial stuff like : "There is no God" ... "The Holacaust never happened" ..."Elvis died because he was constipated and hadn't taken a dump for two months." Shit like this makes a site get traffic.
    Do you agree or not?

Are we defining greatness by amount of traffic then?

I really haven't figured out the formula for high traffic social media. What you say sometimes seems to work, but then other times the controversial site has 3 members and 2/3 of the world is praying for Charles.

For example if you go onto facebook you get a lot of traffic on there because of how many trolls that are on there.
You go onto facebook because you have an opinion or two to share with everyone.
Not everyone is going to like your opinion and will end up reporting it.

I don't know how many times you have been banned on facebook because of your strong opinions on Greta Thunburg but you need to be careful of what you say.

It's the same when people go onto a page and spam it with all sorts of shit.

For me it's perhaps saying something that you can't get out right.

Number of members is especially essential. The rest will follow.

True, but more accurately, number of active members.

For example, the old place probably has a million members, but there's not that many more actually posting than there are here.

i never really found a great one yet

but i find the good ones tend to be small and only one subject ...cars is a good example ...like for example a small forum with a core group of users that is based on the knowledge sharing of one particular automobile model with absolutely no political or catchall chat type areas ...

i suppose im only thinking forums though...not all social media

Depends on what you want out of a social media site, OP. Sounds like you want a political or philosophical or conspiracy forum.
