Elon Musk unveils pig with chip in its brain

It's all quite exciting i think but also i do think we should rapidly explore the idea that keeps coming up of a Hippocratic oath for scientists
Gertrude the pig is a prototype of a brain-to-machine interface.

100% that pig either starts fighting crime or develops a diabolical plan to destroy the earth.

A sodomous hippocratic oath to be exact

The device the company is developing consists of a tiny probe containing more than 3,000 electrodes attached to flexible threads thinner than a human hair, which can monitor the activity of 1,000 brain neurons.

"Once they have the recordings, Neuralink will need to decode them and will someday hit the barrier that is our lack of basic understanding of how the brain works, no matter how many neurons they record from.

I'm wondering how they'll attempt to scale that up to 80+ Billion Neurons.

I find Elon's slight awkwardness endearing

He seems more awkward with this in comparison to discussing SpaceX.

Prediction: In the year 2038, a new subgenre of Electronic music called Neural Funk will sweep the US and UK.

It will be a drum machine and people and animals hooked up to neural link eating.

They have genetically altered animals now That don’t fart. In trying to prevent methane gas contributing to climate change, which is the biggest contributor some say, scientists are genetically altering animals. This is really fucked up in my opinion.

really not sure what the point of these implants are above. What is the point?

I think Musk's ultimate goal with Neural Link is to have a brain-chip interface for humans, so presumably we could enhance a lot of cognitive abilities, basically have the knowledge of a search engine stored in our head.

My guess is to try it out on pigs to test the efficacy before testing it on humans.
