  • Boycotts

There are all kinds of reasons to boycott merchants, food producers, online services and people. So I'm going to start a list!

  • #2
And the first will be Cotosen who managed to clip me for $67 by sending only the cheapest part of the order and then insisting they sent the whole thing. It was a lie and while I probably should have done more homework https://www.trustpilot.com/review/cotosen.com my point is that they are a scam and they rip a LOT of people off.

Next it's PayPal, who delayed my claim for weeks until finally declaring that it was to be closed and that Cotosen gets to keep my money. I've been using PayPal for a decade to sell various things. This is the first and only time they have literally allowed a merchant to rip me off.

      Fuck these people.

maytronics sells robotic pool vacuums, mostly online, always highlighting their great warranty right at the top of the ad. then when you buy one and get it shipped to you and you open the warranty card, in the middle of a massive wall of text you see the line "all warranties not valid for products purchased online".

luckily i saw someone else complaining about it in an online review and was able to convince my local pool supply store to sell it to me for the online price, but it still seems like a super shady business practice.

<— Boycotting Anheuser Busch for stealing the name Budweiser from the Czech town of Budweis. And making a shitty lager recipe out of it. While the real Budweiser tastes lots better, and comes in green bottles.

It was the coal tar and formaldehyde that made me quit them back on the 90s.

Burger King. This is bottom tier fast food in both quality and service. I’ve gotten the same poor results in many different shop locations. Stale food, running out of supplies, painfully long wait time, dirty environment, unprofessional staff, etc.

Coca-Cola. I loved them as a kid. As a grown up the only soda I can drink is seltzer. Telling their employees to be less white doesn’t help either. If a white guy acts black, he’s being racist. If a white guy acts white he’s a redneck trailer trash. There’s no winning with Coca-Cola.

Facebook. I just stopped caring for it back in 2010. But I had to relearn it for my job to promote and manage the company Facebook page. Oh man was it a culture shock to see how much it changed.

Nike. Much of my friends in design school sought to get jobs at the Nike headquarters. But after being to the campus and hanging out with the workers. The corporate culture of Nike really turns the average employee into a complete hot-headed douche.

Batteries + Bulbs, don’t trust these bastards to repair your phone. They use parts made of the cheapest third party Chineseium and they don’t work.

Starbucks. Overpriced and overrated. What else can I say?

Expedia. I used them to reserve a say at a pet friendly hotel at the coast. When I got there, it turned out they had a no pet policy. Canceling was a head ache. Fuck Expedia. Now I book rooms the old fashioned way.

I can't even remember the last time I saw someone post a picture of their meal.

Amazon because the price of many of their products can be found elsewhere for a lot cheaper, people buy from them assuming that amazon has the best price, they don’t.

Not to mention their lowest priced products are the bottom-of-the-barrel Chinesium garbage that breaks after a few uses.

I'm surprised your not a big fan of Burger King after it's advertising campaign which featured the slogan "Women belong in the kitchen"

Back in the late 1990s I worked as a security officer at Coca Cola at it's Northeast Distribution Center in Needham MA. Being one of the few black employee's I can assure you most of the white guys I worked didn't have to be told to be less white. Most were fans of hip hop and didn't just act like they were black - some imagined they really were..lol..

As for Facebook, I haven't logged onto my account in 10 years.

As for Nike, I don't understand it's internal politics, but they have an excellent line of products.

As for Starbucks, you're right they are overpriced and overrated.

You're right about Nike products. I wear a 13EEE shoe and Nike has them. Other shoe makers SAY they make a 13EEE, but their largest available sole piece is 12, so they design a fatter upper that curls around your foot noticeably. And they make my feet hurt. I've never had this problem with Nike, so I pay the extra buck for shoes that fit. I wish they made work boots and loafers.

Coldwater- Congrats on the Facebook protest. The anti-posters will admire that.
Agree it's irritating to see young white men acting more black... I've wondered, is it purposeful, do they think it's cool?
Now I understand your attitude a bit better, not that I admire it sometimes, though.

I boycotted Blue Diamond walnut for 13+ years based on the company's poor contract proposals and the company walking away from bargaining table.

Now they're back on my purchasing side.
They taste even better post-strike than back pre-strike.

That just might be me tasting victory in with the walnut flavor.

Nike has some good design talent. But I guess in due time I’ll come back around to them.

That Burger King promo had fine print that you might’ve missed. It said “Women belong in the kitchen (if they want to),” then offered culinary scholarships for women. It was edgy and clever, but their food still sucks.

How’d you like being a security personnel for Coca Cola? I used to do security work for film sites of tv shows and movies.
