  • Federal Eviction Moratorium Expires Tonight

Our neighbors to the south of us both worked for the school district. She worked in the office, he worked in maintenance. They have worked for the school district for several decades. Both lost their jobs.

Put their house up for sale in April and thankfully sold it the last of June.

I knew this was coming. So many will be evicted now. Homeless will rise. Not a pretty sight.

I am so thankful that I haven't been affected directly by all this insanity. Like most I take my current lifestyle for granted. Thanks for the reminder.

Our house is paid off and we are retired, so we are very thankful to be out of it as well. Even sitting on the side and watching everything, it affects even us.

that's kind of surprising. all the school employees were kept on around here, as far as i know.

but of course, there are a ton of people who weren't so lucky.

I used to see these neighbors go to work every morning while I was out doing duck chores. Then after the world went to hell in a hand basket, the windows no longer lit up, and no activity, as in them going to work at their appointed time (they always used their back door).

I'm just glad they sold their house rather than got evicted. They probably just wanted to get out of the obligation of a mortgage and rest till they know what will happen. Hell, I'd like to know what will happen for that matter

It would have been nice to see a halt to mortgage and rent payments, at least for the first few months of the pandemic. The mortgage pause would allow landlords to survive without rent payments for a few months. Maybe some sort of program to offer tax rebates to those affected to offset lost income.

The idea of putting someone on the street any time, let alone during a pandemic, is gross and we should be doing more to prevent it, especially in higher income countries like the US and Canada.

They say they are going to extend the eviction moratorium but don't give a date yet.

White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow said eviction moratoriums will be extended due to the continued economic circumstances brought on by the coronavirus pandemic.

Kentucky's expired today. Starting right now if the landlord wants you gone you have 30 days to get your stuff and go.
