The Pentagon's Upcoming Report On UFOs

I haven't taken UFOs very seriously, not since I was a kid anyway. My current thinking is that they are some top secret US military things, some top secret private enterprise things, optical illusions, poorly understood atmospheric phenomena or maybe just some space junk falling back to Earth. The alternatives that I can think of (a foreign government thing, time travelers, extraterrestrials) are just so far fetched that I find them hard to take seriously. But I could be wrong.

I'm asking three things. First, what possibilities haven't I thought of? Second, what do you suspect they are? And last, how optimistic are you that the Pentagon will deliver a good-faith report to the Congress? Because I'm not very optimistic, at all.

Well, my understanding is that the entire thing is to be declassified. This leads me to believe that there will nothing of substance included. I don't trust the Pentagon to let go of its secrets.

1) You haven't thought of the bigfoot species developing these aircrafts.
2) I think it's most likely foreign government tech. Second guess would be our own but after watching that video, it's a bit hard to believe such notable figures would be in the dark on the issue.

I read a book on UFO encounters awhile back and one of the hypothesis provided was something to do with encounters were more likely to occur in areas that emitted certain types of wave frequencies. That could maybe explain the people experiencing them but if these radar images are in the same area, that's probably not a likely explanation.

3) If it is our own tech, I'm not confident at all Pentagon would report in good-faith. If it's foreign tech, they might be a bit more forthcoming but still I suspect they would keep some stuff close to the vest.

I am not sure whether I would like to meet a grey, green or black meanie. They don’t have sex organs in depictions of them, so they could be trying to make humans to be more like them with no functioning reproductive organs and sex just happens in the mind... either that or you share a grub as a meal with an alien and the results would be a child conceived by two men.

In the movie enemy mine with Dennis Quaid and Louis Gossett jr. ... it is a story of friendship, understanding and eventual love between the two Robinson Crusoes in space. Both are aliens I guess... anyways, louis Gossett offers up a disgusting grub that they share and Louis Gossett gets pregnant from the grub sharing moment with Dennis Quaid ... results, a child from this romantic encounter in space.

If it's artificial intelligence technology sent by aliens I could imagine it remaining unidentified indefinitely. It would be much more difficult to imagine aliens visiting themselves and remaining hidden, but we only have our anthropocentric view to go on.

It occurred to me last night that it could just be some nerds fucking with the Navy. Might seem unlikely at first, but consider that the instrumentation used on fighter jets is used to detect sophisticated threats. What if these UFOs are simply funny shaped balloons filled with helium? They'd appear to hover and then a remote signal could be used to rapidly deflate them, like letting the air out of a birthday balloon or whatever. They'd then appear to "instantly" accelerate, or if weighted would drop into the ocean. People hack computers for fun, and there was the crop circle thing way back so why not fool with the Navy?

If this were the case then the Pentagon might be reluctant to admit that billions have been spent on these state of the art fighter jets...but they get fucked up by balloons. It would also be admitting a weakness that enemies might be able to exploit.

All a UFO is ... is an unidentified flying object... so these could simply be foreign military planes in airspace that they should not be and not identified. 0or as TD said, they just aren’t telling the people what Is really going on. Perhaps surveillance!

i also think it is quite egotistical to think that we would be the only life forum - animals...in the vast and endless universe. But also that looking at this serves no purpose and seeking out life forms elsewhere serves no purpose in ones life Here on earth. Just a waste of energy.

i also think it is quite egotistical to think that we would be the only life forum - animals...in the vast and endless universe. But also that looking at this serves no purpose and seeking out life forms elsewhere serves no purpose in ones life Here on earth. Just a waste of energy.

Even if one believes we are not the only advanced life forms in the Universe, the notion that an alien civilization would be able to travel here raises some serious questions about our understanding of the laws of physics or at the very least suggests that conditions elsewhere in the universe are incredibly more stable.

Soooo, we will seek them out in order to find resources, new technology where by we can exploit mining and what not elsewhere.... Perhaps everyone fly away to settle new lands?
