Want to pretend to live on Mars? For a whole year? Apply now

Ya, isolate yourself for a year ... like they did with this covid thing... you can do it... live in a simulated mars compound in preparation to become an astronaut... apply now with a NASA....link in the article. Must be American... and no that isn’t racist..
Want to find your inner Matt Damon and spend a year pretending you are isolated on Mars? NASA has a job for you. To prepare for eventually sending astronauts to Mars, NASA began taking applications Friday for four people to live for a year in Mars Dune Alpha.

I could do this. Don't wanna, but I could. Getting to Mars is just another big dick contest. No brains.

Lol, I had forgotten about BioDome.

I’m going to read up on those BioSphere experiments later. I think they all failed.

Scientists live in Antarctica though. From what I’ve read about it, gravity will be the biggest problem. The longest American stayed at the ISS for a little over a year, and I think a Russian beat them in that amount of time, and the only way to keep your bones from losing all their density is to lift weights 2-3 hours every day.

I think if/when we actually set up a colony that’ll be the biggest problem. Nothing we even know about can simulate gravity but acceleration. So turn the dome sideways and have it go a couple hundred miles an hour non stop?. But I think the power consumption would be pretty ridiculous.

So if people stayed on Mars too long, no coming back.

Yes they did attempt this and was a big scam with a lot of fraud... here is an article on it. Was a huge fail and Mars was the goal I believe. Seems it was a cult as well for those inside it.

wonder who funds this NASA sphere? Tax dollars?

So absurd that they spend this gargantuan amount of money, time, and effort creating a working miniature ecosystem when they could be cleaning up this planet.

It's just the epitome of irresponsibility. And yet the vast majority worship the ground they walk on.

that's the second pauley shore reference of the day for me (earlier i was on the boat, and my friend randomly made a pauley shore "weasel" noise and we discussed pauley based on that). i don't see how this can possibly not be a bad sign.
