Wikipedia co-founder says website has been taken over by lefties

Nobody should trust Wikipedia,' its co-founder warns: Larry Sanger says site has been taken over by left-wing 'volunteers' who write off sources that don't fit their agenda as fake news

Wikipedia can no longer be trusted as a source of unbiased information since the online encyclopedia's left-leaning volunteers cut out any news that doesn't fit their agenda, according to the site’s co-founder
He said he agreed with the assessment that ‘teams of Democratic-leaning volunteers’ remove content that isn’t to their liking, including information about scandals linked to President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter Biden.

When asked by Unherd.com if Wikipedia can be trusted, he replied: ‘You can trust it to give a reliably establishment point of view on pretty much everything.

Larry Sanger (left), 53, co-founded Wikipedia in 2001 alongside Jimmy Wales, said the crowdsourcing project has betrayed its original mission by reflecting the views of the 'establishment.'

"Righties" don't require sources anyway, at least not in the United States.

Here's a Wikipedia article about bias on Wikipedia.

There's always conservapidia for you to choose your own reality. Probably wouldn't take a site that says that evolution is a communist conspiracy with a grain of salt though.

Not surprised. When you read a wiki article about a conservative figure, it usually reads like a hit piece

I find it a bit weird. Its not Nam. If you as a volunteer do not try to be objective and drop the rules how to be a proper objective aiming contributor, you should simply be restricted and/or removed from participation.
It was always a problem on Wikipedia that people could re-edit a page, and that some pages that were topical or sensitive were re-edited all the time by contributors with opposite views :P But that wasn't primarily left or right (after all, it generally takes two sides to keep that re-editing going :P ). But now its mainly a problem caused by lefties who don't follow the proper guidelines of writing and editing a wikipedia article... Uhm, what happened to the basic 3 strikes and you're out rule?

Not sure “lefties” is the right term. A Russell Brand video had one of those Wikipedia “‘fake news” warnings posted at the top… seems to me that left and right and the middle too have been co-opted to control any narrative that rings true to us commoners. But yeah, fuck Wikipedia.
