As as the time of writing I have never ever taken part in or watched/listened to a political debate in which one of the sides has cried "uncle" and changed their point of view.
Have you?
"The embers of our past lives lie smouldering within us awaiting the winds of remembrance to fan them in flames of reality." Dax.
Dax To tell the truth I never watch/listen to any of the political debates. I usually can figure out what's going on in America by paying close attention to how people are behaving in the real world when there's about to be a new occupant in the White House. Besides, I tend to think most politicians have more interest in themselves than the people they claim to want to save, etc.
P.S. Don't bother to Take The Quiz - there is no link. I just liked the image :-)
I'm with pacific dude, I get most of my political stuff from regular people I see daily rather than watching the garbage fire they put on cable tv.
But I don't think dax was referring to the televised debates, I took it to be about regular people talking politics. And either way, the answer is no, nobody has ever changed their mind about politics in the history of discussing politics.
I'm not sure but Politics seems to have become more like sports than philosophy. I didn't follow it much when I was younger but there seems to be more of a fanaticism about it, something I seem to recall only present between countries with radically different types of societies.

Got it. I thought he meant the political debates on TV. I generally don't debate politics w/people online or in the real world. A lot of sound and fury signifying nothing (a wise man once said). People will always have opinions that are the total opposite of your own, so I find it best to nod my head and not say a word. After all, everyone is entitled to his/her opinion. I don't think it's healthy to participate in a childish mud slinging contest. Nobody wins.
