Sadly I don't/haven't for a while to be honest Mel. Going go to try start tomorrow (nor just grog)

I am currently only a few types of medication that require food (both for my mental and physical health) which sometimes makes it hard.

But I have done it before and will give it a real crack this year/month.

if I cannot manage to be successful, I will make a sizable financial donation to poor children/orphans/folks (Which is the point of Ramadan, to feel empathy for the poor and hungry)

I have enjoyed many great feasts at a Mosque when The fasting ends over the years. It is such a beautiful and spiritual expression of friendship/brotherhood.

I have been a very bad Muslim (and human being) mainly due to my alcoholism, but it's never too late to try and change/become a better human being i believe. And that applies to anyone, of any religion or even atheists.

An non believer who spends most of Their day feeding and caring for the poor is 100 % more likely to enter Jannah (Heaven) than scumbags who kill innocent people who fight under misguided and brainwashed Jihad ideology.

Finally my Cousin (who used to be the chairman of the Islamic Council of Victoria) and his wife are good personal friends with a married Lesbian couple.

I can only hope to be as open minded and tolerant as my Cuz one day.

Finally I firmly believe the Hijab (Islamic headscarf) should be voluntary, not compulsory for Sisters.

My mother in all my life has never worn one expect when going to Mosque or Weddings or Funerals.

Zoolander good luck attempting it! It's understandable if you're on medication that makes it difficult to go without food

I really like religious rituals even though I'm not religious myself, and Ramadan is one that seems like it must take an enormous amount of discipline.
the thing that really gets me is abstaining from water all day. I tried to do it once, just for a day to see how difficult it was and I didn't make it until sundown lol

Anyways thanks for sharing a bit of your religion and your thoughts on it, zoo. I find it interesting

I can imagine how amazing the feasts are on Eid al-Fitr ???
