I've always found that to be an odd statement. I've never said it, but I've heard it enough.

shit - I would wish my worst enemy to go through EVERY bad thing I've ever gone through, agonized over, and especially I would want them to go through stuff that would make them cry. THEN (if said enemy) went through all I've gone through, then, by God , they would have character! They would be a good person (or in a mental hospital) but I see great potential for having my enemy/ies go through at the least what I've gone through.
