  • What Would You Do With $1,000,000?

Honestly, I wouldn't change too much in my life. I'd pay off the mortgage, get some new clothes...and hire someone to mow the damn grass. I would keep working for the time being but would be able to retire much earlier than currently planned. Then I might take a few trips that are on my bucket list.

I guess I'm boring but I can't really think of much to do beyond what I'm already doing.

that's not boring, Dice! it's awesome. i am pretty much the same.

i would buy the land that i'm planning to do anyway, but without needing the loan. i would apply for planning and build a cabin on it.
i would go on a one-off spree of clothes and music and books buying, and probably a very decent laptop.
then life would pretty much go back to normal. I'd continue working at the shop.
my wages would then easily pay for things i wanted to do like driving lessons, trips abroad.

There was this adorable little hotel somewhere around Chiang Khan in Thailand I stayed at once that was built to blend in with the rainforest, it was local, so wasnt on the hotel websites and I havent been able to find it since, and its was only like $12 a night

I could easily retire there and be hard pressed to spend $AU10K a year

This isnt it, this is a $60 a night hotel, but to give you and idea of the area

This is my other favourite hotel in Thailand, The Cove at the south end of Phuket, it basically has its own beach

Usually $300 a night, but just checked tripadvisor, thanks
to Covid its like $100 a night at the moment, if you can actually get into the country

I would go with a combination of easy living for myself and investing it in a business/organisation that adds to the progressive ecological change that is much needed. Probably organic farming. I would be part of that business/organisation

seriously, i'd pay off my student loans (the only debt i currently have), donate some, invest some, and spend the rest on traveling. and maybe a bigger boat.

yeah, those are the stupid guys who think retirement means sitting in their chair all day watching the cable news. if i was retired i'd finally have time to actually be as active as i'd like.

Dude, I friggin love mowing the grass. I'd mow your lawn front and back for 10 bucks. Literally, my panhandling sign used to contain that offer but it was too much to read I think because I get more money when I just say:

                        "HOMELESS. NEED HELP."

I’d pay off our mortgage and probably buy a holiday house near the beach.

A million dollars doesn’t go as far as it use to but I wouldn’t knock it back.
