    RIP MF DOOM

One of my favorite Rapper/Producers who's been referred to as "Your Favorite Rappers, Favorite Rapper" died on October 31 but his death was announced on Friday. I understand that his style might not be everybody's cup of tea but he's one of my favorites:

RIP MF DOOM indeed! I was saddened when I heard of his passing. I have fond memories of blazing it up and listening to DOOM in my youth.

At least his music will live on!

Yeah. I had to crank "Accordion" the opening line "Living on borrowed time, the clock ticks faster....." hit me hard. I wasn't even really a hip hop fan until I heard DOOM (you always have to spell it with "ALL CAPS") and even at that the first I heard of him was the "Special Herbs Box Set" so it was the instrumentals so I fell in love with the producer before I fell in love with the MC. As a musician it blew my mind open in a beautiful way in terms of gong outside of genre for influence (any hip hop producer with the balls to sample Frank Zappa is good in my book or to say "Great googly moogly" for that matter).

Right on, I had the exact same impulse to crank Accordion when I heard the news! It's true though, I do think DOOM was one of the few rappers and producers who could entice people who generally don't listen to rap/hip-hop normally. Truly a tragic loss.. hopefully he's producing some banging tunes with all the other musicians who left before him.

'Doomsday' also came to mind "'Til I'm back where my brother went, that's what my tomb will say".
