I kid you not. I told my Dad when he was dissing Buddhists who commit suicide , over the phone I told him about a Buddhist I met online (You), and I gave him a bunch of other examples of how Buddhists and Jews I meet never once tell me I need their religion to be saved.

I didn't quote you or anything or go into many details for the sake of confidentiality. Just said, "He's got more of Christ's virtues (unless he's bluffing) than the average Christian it seems".

My Dad said, "why does he like Buddha". Doesn't he know about Saints like "Mother Teresa and Francis of Assisi".

I cut him off and said "Dad, I kid you not, he recently posted an icon of Francis of Assisi and he posts quotes from mother Teresa too many times too count".

That conversation was last night actually, but still. It's a coincidence I thought you would appreciate. I'm not making this stuff up. God won't bless me or let my words bear any fruit if I'm lying.

The Buddhists who commit suicide are a select few who burn themselves alive in public to protest something or like some Japanese Buddhist Monks who live off a diet for over a thousand days that causes all their fat and muscle to burn up so that they won't decompose then get buried alive for greater powers to help people in the next life.

I don't think that behavior is good but I respect them a lot because of the amount of self-control, self-discipline, and indifference to the desires of the flesh and the world and tolerance to suffering it takes to do that.

Mad respect to all of them. I pray to them as I believe they are Buddhas (enlightened Heavenly beings), just don't agree that was the correct way to go about reaching Nirvana and would never recommend it. But , whatever floats your boat!

Haha. I get that all the time! Are you a Christian, Buddhist - can't have it both ways! Tell your Dad to read the works of Thomas Merton. He was Catholic/Buddhist. A truly Great Spirit :-)

It's not a matter of if I agree with them. Logic is not the totality of a person. And I'm happy.

So if I really thought about it. Yeah, I am closer to death now than I was a moment ago. But, on the other hand, a moment ago was also now in every sense of the word.
