    Popular movies/tv-shows you don't like

One popular movie that comes to mind that I hated was Space Jam. Michael Jordan's acting was not very convincing at all. He had an easy role to play: as himself. I liked Michael Jordan, and I like the Loony Tunes, but combining the two made for a bad movie. My friends loved the movie when it came out, but I did not. Because of this I was mocked. More than 20 years later, my adult friends ostracize me for holding the same opinion for Space Jam that I did back then.

To think that the whole idea for the movie was based off of a successful Nike commercial that starred the Loony Tunes to sell Air Jordans....

I enjoyed Space Jam but I wouldn't say it's a good movie. It just seemed like a silly comedy for kids, starring the GOAT basketball player in his prime. (Although I think it was his first full season back from failing at minor league baseball)

I didn't like The Fifth Element. I saw it probably closer to today than closer to when it was released but I remember girls dressing like Leelu for Halloween and some people speaking very highly of the movie. I remember it was often shown on the tv displays at electronic stores too. By the time I saw it, the special effects didn't have an impact on me like they might have had I saw it in theaters and practically every character in it besides the main characters were dumb. All the side characters felt like comic relief characters, which seemed at odds with the tone of the central plot. I'm just thinking of all the random characters now, Chris Tucker's flamboyant character, those warthog looking things. I don't even remember what the plot was.

Pretty much all of them lol. I don't really like *most* action movies unless it's like...quirky Quentin Tarentino style action. Don't like comic book movies or most suspense/thrillers or crime dramas...those Law and Order / SVU shows ? so boring. I can't stand shows or movies that are just straight up drama with no comedic relief

I pretty much exclusively watch comedies, the darker the better. And fantasy/adventure style movies, sometimes.

Anything currently on CBS. NBC, FOX.. The list goes on and on.. I can just start with Big Bang.. I know a few characters by memes. But have only seen the show via commercials.

Most things Marvel and DC. Basically the only kind of superheroes I dig are jedis lol (and even then I'm critical). X men are mixed bag (except that latest Wolverine, that's just awful), somehow I grew a liking for most xmen movies..

I have mixed feelings about Big Bang, it's a good comedy but there are some very annoying aspects. I can see why others hate it. One thing I noticed about such comedy sitcoms is I mainly enjoy them on my own. Not with friends. I rather watch movies with friends, or with one particular friend also tv shows like docs or game shows (when I go chill at his place on evenings before work days), but not comedy series!

By latest Wolverine do you mean The Wolverine? or Logan?

I like the first couple X-Men movies and Days of Future Past but the movies have botched favorite villains like Dark Phoenix and Apocalypse. I haven't seen any of the Wolverine movies.

basically this, except replace fantasy/adventure with horror.

that was weird because when I saw the thread title "the 5th element" popped into my head, and I don't even dislike it. tbh it's been way too long since i've seen it to have much of an opinion.. but it does seem overrated.

the plot is that you need the five elements to activate a defensive weapon.. i think? and protect the earth from being destroyed

I've only seen about a half hour of the fifth element, somewhere in the middle of the movie. But my impression was that it had no plot and was just an excuse to show a bunch of weird scenes.

I think its called Logan, and it is set for a large part in Japan. The Wolverine origins movie is the opposite: above average

I agree all the Wolverine-centered X-men titles were pretty bad movies. But I did love the Days of Future Past

Not all: the prequel one about him is pretty good. The other two not so much

X-men Origins: Wolverine is how the good one is called

Fifth Element is fun but neither horrible or great in my book. I appreciate the weirdness in it

Worth noting that I encountered lots of people who hate on movies because they are popular, win awards, and everyone loves them. Yet they hate them because they want to be different.

I know people who hate Avatar and Titanic for these reasons. My theory is they get sick of the media and society raving on and on about such movies. Maybe they also don’t actually hate the movies, but they just don’t believe they deserve the praise they get.

I felt this way about the movie War Horse. It was a good movie, but I think it got way more praise than it deserved

Could be the Celine Dion title song with Titanic though :P

But yes, I think that's the issue with Fifth Element a lot too. Maybe there weren't enough weird scifi movies like that so it got above average praise at the time, which bugged other more critical scifi lovers

Pocahontas in another form. Not badly executed, just an unoriginal plot. Which indeed adds to the boring feeling

I thought Wolverine Origins was bad and Logan... omg, I was so bored I was counting the tiles on the ceiling of the theater.

First Class and Days of Future Past were legit tho. ?
